I havn't told many people about LDing as such but I live away from my Mom and I receive regular phone calls from her looking for me to interpret her general dreams. I'm lucky enough that she does believe in a lot of stuff as she has a clairvoiant friend who showed her the light but alas I wouldn't tell her about Lucid Dreaming as i know her enough to know she wouldn't try it. And she would of course accept me doing it as she always does with everything but tell me to "be careful" and then she'd secretly ask Saint Michael to protect me while I'm doing it |

"“Evil? Good? These are merely words. In the eyes of the universe neither of those exist. There are only three elements, that act as a base for all that you see around. There is Light. There is Dark. And there is the balance between those two. Good and Evil are concepts, used to deny oneself from serving the balance. By serving, you participate in the great creation."

The majority of people are going to respond like your friend did. Maybe with better spelling and grammar but the reaction is going to be there. For what is unknown to them are you expecting them to respond with a positive attitude? When I told my friends about it, they acted like they didn't give a rat’s ass about it and just didn't care. Though, later on you may find your friend come around, after they looked into it if they choose to do so. Plus, the way to approach it and the impression you give off helps with their reaction too. Though not everyone is going to like it or understand it. So, do the best you can but again for the most part you are going to get people who don’t understand it or care to even try to understand it. |
|
I aggree with what Erin said in that the way you present it is going to be a big factor in the response you receive.. Be positive and informative but dont let your tone go into the regions of "No really, it's true!" or "Well I suppose... it could be possible".. |
|
Everyone I have ever talked to about it, including my friends and family have either been aware, or at least accepting of the idea, and one or two had experienced it. I've even lent out my copy of EWOLD upon people's request. It's strange to me that you guys encounter so many people who would think it doesn't exist or is bad. I don't know how any skeptical, scientific, learned person would have trouble grasping and accepting the idea of lucid dream, as the term pretty much explains itself and doesn't make any unbelievable claims. Even more astounding than that is the fact that people who believe wholeheartedly in things like astrology, clairvoyance, homeopathy and all the other crap I'd pile in with that would have some aversion to the idea. |
|
The ones that I have told asked me to elaborate extensively before they found it rather astounding. Nevertheless, I managed to convince them all to become passionately interested, and attempt to induce an LD. I hope that they are successful, for if they are, there will be no further questions about its nature. |

~I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.~
M0rp8ix's twisted reality
I've read alot of these types of threads, it seems clear to me that lucid dreaming is often the victum of prejudice, I once made a comparison to the cro magnon people (Cave Men) in the book series earth's children seeing people riding horses, they become prejudice to them, thinking there is something super natural about them, they reacted with volience or fear apon first seeing them. (similer to how some people react to lucid dreaming with insults, or think of them as super natural today) |

I wanna be the very best
Like no one ever was
To lucid dream is my real test
To control them is my cause
I'm one of those persons who doesn't believe in spiritual stuff at all, but I fail to see how lucid dreaming is spiritual or magical or anything like that. Although, tbh, it is rather odd telling myself that I just need to believe I will recall my dreams, or whatever. I think maybe I should keep this sort of thinking in check, like giving myself a time limit to achieve lucid dreams, because tbh, the idea that you need to believe in something and it will happen just seems "magical" to me.. |
