      Dream Pain?

Ive heard 2 diffrent opinions on pain in dreams.
      1. There is little or almost no pain in dreams
      2. Pain is greatly intensified in dreams.

Which is true, and if its a personal thing (not true/false) whats your opinion?

Me personally, ive never felt pain in any dreams ive had. But some people definately do.
I think it just depends on how you interpret things, and how intense/vivid your dreams are, also how deep your sleeping and how far into REM you are might have something to do with it...maybe?
Anyone ever tried to make themselves feel pain in a dream? Did it work?

      I've had pain before.
The most recent dream was, I had a broken arm due to a morcycle crash. I just witnessed the crash and thought it looked very bad. Next thing I know, I'm in place of the downed rider and I got a broke arm. It broken right at my left elbow and hurt pretty damn bad. I had an ambulance ride and everything.

Another dream I've had with pain is one I've had multiple times. Really its one of my nightmares. I'll dream that my teeth are hurting really bad. All of them are loose and some fall out. I usually taste blood, that dream really sucks.

It depends. It can be either or. If you are lucid, pain is usually non-existant (you know it is a dream=nothing can hurt you=you feel no pain).

If it is a nightmare, or non-lucid, then pain can behave just as in real-life, or not at all (your mind may not let you feel pain as a defense mechanism from waking, or as a general dream incongruity). Because you can potentially feel pain in non-lucids, the classic 'pinch check' is not a recommended reality check.

i have dreams i feel pain, and theres dreams i dont feel pain... it really differs for me from night to night. i also have had lucids with pain in them too. the pain i feel whilst dreaming feels different than RL pain though... its a duller pain, but can be just as intense as in real life.

Sometimes I have dreams where I'm paralyzed or something and it hurts really badly to move. I also have dreams where my eyelids feel like they are ripped off and that hurts a lot. But in general, I occasionally do feel pain in dreams, but not usually directly from things in the dream. Like, parts of my body might just hurt for no reason.

I've had both dreams where I have been able to feel pain, and dreams where I haven't. I think it depends on if you expect to feel pain or not.

yeah, i only remember one instance where i felt pain, and it was during a non-lucid. all i remember from it was i was getting cut up by razor blades (mostly my arms, and no i'm not a masochist) , and the pain was unbearable. i actually woke up because it was so painful

I don't think it's likely to be categorized so obviously... for me at least, I can experience anything between as painful as real life, and no pain.

Personally, its neither of the above, sometimes I feel pain, sometimes I don't. On balance I'd say its not as bad as feeling pain when awake, but that may be because its usually just a memory upon waking.

Never felt extreme pain in a dream (touch wood)
I feel the impact and the pressure if you get me, but never the sharp actual unpleasant pain.
For instance i can fall downa flight of stairs and it will just feel like ive done a forward roll, or bullet wounds just feel like a soft tennis ball had been thrown at me.
I remember using this to my advantage in a lucid and literally just tackling people down flights of stairs, or grabbing them and jumping from high places
Our dreams are firsthand creations, rather than residues of waking life. We have the capacity for infinite creativity.

I don;t usually feel pain in dreams, since I'm not usually physically injured (injured by some sort of "spirit pressure", to steal a phrase, has happened, but) I can only remember one occurence when I was actually, physically injured. I was stabbed in the chest. And it freaking hurt. So yeah, I would say you can feel pain in dreams.
