      Do you use reality checks?
      No
      Why/why not?
I don't know, they seem kind of uselss to me. I seem to have DILDs regardless of whether or not I do RCs, so I just gave up doing them.
      Lucid Dream Count (starting 3/15/08):
      [2]DILD
      [0]WILD

Goal: Get the motivation to actually do WILDs and FILDs

      Do you use reality checks?
      yes

      Why/why not?
so that I will do them when I'm dreaming

      When?
Whenever anything weird, strange, unusual or interesting happens. When a lightbulb, cellphone, TV, car or any device malfunctions. When I'm in a new place or building. When I'm doing some activity that's out of the ordinary. When I randomly bump into someone I know in a public place. When I'm running late. When I wake up. When any of my personal dream signs take place in RL (eg I'm looking for a public toilet). When I happen to think to do a RC

How often do you do them at home?
Not as often as when I'm out, but probably every couple of hours

How often do you do them around others?
Whenever I need to do them

What is your greatest obstacle when performing reality checks in real life?
Remembering to do them. Sometimes I look back at something weird that happened during the day and realise I didn't do a RC and I'm disappointed with myself.

What is your greatest obstacle when performing reality checks in a dream?
      Thinking to do them

How often do tests prove negative (while in the dream, it says you are awake)?
      Never

How often do tests prove positive (but you don't become lucid)?
I don't understand this question, sorry!

On a scale of 1-10, how confident are you of your RC result during a dream?
      10

Lastly, how could your personal reality check behavior be improved (this is a very broad question!
By thinking about my dream signs whenever I do a RC to get them more ingrained in my subconsciousness!

Do you use reality checks? yes
Why/why not? i like knowing when i am dreaming and when i am not.
When? in real life and in dreams.
How often do you do them at home? 5 a dayish.
How often do you do them around others?5. i don't care if people are around, i still do them.
What is your greatest obstacle when performing reality checks in real life? making sure the reality check was reliable.
What is your greatest obstacle when performing reality checks in a dream? making sure it is really a dream and i am not mistaking it for real life.
How often do tests prove negative (while in the dream, it says you are awake)? not very often. when i am sick i usually fail the nose RC.
How often do tests prove positive (but you don't become lucid)? most of the time.
On a scale of 1-10, how confident are you of your RC result during a dream? 9
Lastly, how could your personal reality check behavior be improved (this is a very broad question!)? I could do it more often and try multiple RCs instead of just the nose plug.

      Do you use reality checks?

      Yes.

      Why/why not?

Because they are shown to help with lucid dreaming.

      When?

Whenever I think about dreaming, or when I see something
impossible/unlikely.(I have no dream signs observed recently)

How often do you do them at home?

I would say that the above conditions are met about 50% of the time at
      home.

How often do you do them around others?

About 50% of my checks are around others.

What is your greatest obstacle when performing reality checks in real life?

Finding a time when I can stop my current train of thought in order to
      check properly.

What is your greatest obstacle when performing reality checks in a dream?

Actually remembering to do them in the first place.

How often do tests prove negative (while in the dream, it says you are awake)?

So far, every reality check I have done has resulted in a lucid dream.
Total reality checks in lucid dreams: 1

How often do tests prove positive (but you don't become lucid)?

Every time I can remember, the test has worked.

On a scale of 1-10, how confident are you of your RC result during a dream?

      9.75

Lastly, how could your personal reality check behavior be improved (this is a very broad question!)?

I could improve by doing them more often and by finding some way to get
myself to actually do them in dreams.

      Do you use reality checks?
      yes.

      Why/why not?
It works for me. I get that feeling that im dreaming but still have to check sometimes.

      When?
      In my dreams.

How often do you do them at home?
      when I wake up sometimes.

How often do you do them around others?
      never

What is your greatest obstacle when performing reality checks in real life?
      n/a

What is your greatest obstacle when performing reality checks in a dream?
sometimes my dream tricks me and the reality check doesn't work. I usually do more than one rc in a dream for that reason. for example a dc will see that im doing reality checks and try to assure me that im not dreaming.

How often do tests prove negative (while in the dream, it says you are awake)?
I dont know. i would say 15-25 percent of the time.

How often do tests prove positive (but you don't become lucid)?
      never

On a scale of 1-10, how confident are you of your RC result during a dream?
      it varies between 7-10

Lastly, how could your personal reality check behavior be improved (this is a very broad question!)?
probably if I practiced it while awake more.

Do you use reality checks? Not anymore.
Why/why not? I felt like they didn't help me at all gaining lucidity. I still think they are a good way to stabilize the dream, though

      Do you use reality checks?
      yes

      Why/why not?
to check and/or confirm whether or not I'm dreaming

      When?

during random situations, on entering a new "area", during dreamsigns, when bored, during situations when it's easy to check

How often do you do them at home?

I try to whenever I enter/leave a room, talk to my parents, just randomly, whenever I visit DV, etc..

How often do you do them around others?
my aim is to do them every time I am talking/around someone- unnoticably, of course

What is your greatest obstacle when performing reality checks in real life?

      getting "carried away" in RL.

What is your greatest obstacle when performing reality checks in a dream?
      none

How often do tests prove negative (while in the dream, it says you are awake)?
sometimes they are inconclusive so I do several when that occurs

How often do tests prove positive (but you don't become lucid)?
      never

On a scale of 1-10, how confident are you of your RC result during a dream?
      logic-wise - 10, emotionally-3 or 4

Lastly, how could your personal reality check behavior be improved (this is a very broad question!)?
not to get carried away by RL, to always, even when in exciting/urgent/stressful/etc situations do RC's

Do you use reality checks? Yes

Why/why not? To assure myself I'm dreaming once I become lucid

When? When something very unusual or unlikely happens or when I simply have the feeling I'm dreaming.

How often do you do them at home? It depends on whether or not something unusual is happening, usually 1 - 3 times a day.

How often do you do them around others? Whenever I feel there's need to. Just like with RCing at home, it just depends on whether or not something odd is happening around me.

How often do tests prove negative (while in the dream, it says you are awake)? So far, never.

How often do tests prove positive (but you don't become lucid)? I've never actually done a reality check without being lucid first, but no reality checks have ever failed me so far.

On a scale of 1-10, how confident are you of your RC result during a dream? 9 simply because if I get too caught up in the dream, I might need to do another

I left out questions number 6, 7 and 11 because I really had nothing to say about those things, I hope you don't mind.

      Do you use reality checks?
      Yes.

      Why/why not?
I want to have lucid dreams.

      When?
I try to do it whenever something strange happens. I have also started trying to do them whenever I enter a room, but I usually don't remember, so I mostly just do them whenever I think of it. Maybe 5-10 times a day.

How often do you do them at home?
I probably remember a little more often when at home.

How often do you do them around others?
      Makes no difference.

What is your greatest obstacle when performing reality checks in real life?
      Remembering/self discipline.

What is your greatest obstacle when performing reality checks in a dream?
I do not recall ever doing a reality check in a dream. I have just gotten a sudden realization the few times I have had one.

Lastly, how could your personal reality check behavior be improved (this is a very broad question!)?
By giving more of an effort to remember and being more consistent. By trying to figure out my dream signs and checking when I see them.

      Do you use reality checks?
      Yes
      Why/why not?
It was in the first tutorials I read about LD, to get the habit in RL so that it would carry in dream. I never stopped since, it became a sort of OCD in RL. Unfortunately it never became one in dreams.
      When?
In RL, anytime I notice something strange, a coincidence, déjà-vu, or anything related to dreams (like this site). And sometimes, I do them just because.
How often do you do them at home?
How often do you do them around others?
No difference between the two, I never counted but probably 5-10 times a day.
What is your greatest obstacle when performing reality checks in real life?
If I'm too involved in the situation, I don't think about doing a RC (or I do it later).
What is your greatest obstacle when performing reality checks in a dream?
I don't know; after 2 years of RC in RL, I still dont do them in dreams as a habit, and I rarely notice anything "strange" the same way I do RL.
But I do RC in dreams as a confirmation of an intuitition that I'm dreaming.
How often do tests prove negative (while in the dream, it says you are awake)?
      Never
How often do tests prove positive (but you don't become lucid)?
Almost never (that I remember); see next:
On a scale of 1-10, how confident are you of your RC result during a dream?
9 In average, but it's always the last one that counts, so 10:

My first RC is counting my fingers. It's never 5 in dreams (or never "normal looking"); sometimes I still have doubts (I rationalize by telling myself that I'm drunk or sleepy and so can't count properly), but in this case I confirm by pinching my nose and trying to breathe. There is never doubt on this one.

Lastly, how could your personal reality check behavior be improved (this is a very broad question!)?

Probably by changing what I chose to trigger RC ("strange things") to something more objective. I don't have dream signs (anymore); some months I get back the habit of RC when I awake (useful for FAs).
I don't know; I never found anything that was stable and frequent enough to be usefull in RL and in dreams...
      Dec. 2006 - July 2007:
      92 DILDs + 30 WILDs ; 75% too short, 24% decent, ~3 of 2 to 5 minutes
      (I stopped counting after that)

      Do you use reality checks?
      Nowadays I do

      Why/why not?

Good way to increase lucidness and reassure you are dreaming after initial doubt.
      When
As said above. Also when something I consider odd happens.
How often do you do them at home?
      Hard to say.
How often do you do them around others?
Other people don't affect to my RC. I am not ashamed of it.

What is your greatest obstacle when performing reality checks in real life?
      I see no obstacle there
What is your greatest obstacle when performing reality checks in a dream?
If I fail to have the initial doubt, which is completely dependable of my awareness of course
How often do tests prove negative (while in the dream, it says you are awake)?
Very are case. But it has happened with different RCs. My main one doesn't fail me in that sense.
How often do tests prove positive (but you don't become lucid)?
This happens more often than the previous. Maybe couple times a month.

On a scale of 1-10, how confident are you of your RC result during a dream?
      9

Lastly, how could your personal reality check behavior be improved (this is a very broad question!)?
I didn't now a jack about reality checks because I started to LD before I have anything to read about it so most of my lucid dreams occured because I just understood I was dreaming by instinct. But I am really working to improve my awareness every day and moment. That is my main goal so I get even better results with DILD.

Jujutsu is the gentle art. It's the art where a small man is going to prove to you, no matter how strong you are, no matter how mad you get, that you're going to have to accept defeat. That's what jujutsu is.

      Do you use reality checks?
      Yes

      Why/why not?
So I do one in a dream to induce lucidity

      When?
      Whenever I think about it

How often do you do them at home?
      At least once a day

How often do you do them around others?
Others are not an obstacle to me since I do them in my head

What is your greatest obstacle when performing reality checks in real life?
When there is nothing to prove you are not dreaming

What is your greatest obstacle when performing reality checks in a dream?
That I don't remember to do it

How often do tests prove negative (while in the dream, it says you are awake)?
      Never yet

How often do tests prove positive (but you don't become lucid)?
      Never yet

On a scale of 1-10, how confident are you of your RC result during a dream?
      9

Lastly, how could your personal reality check behavior be improved (this is a very broad question!)?
      To use it more often.

      Do you use reality checks?
      Rarely, yes
      Why/why not?
It helps me to take a second to myself to gather my thoughts and focus on my awareness.
      When?
      Whenever I remember
How often do you do them at home?
Maybe 5 on a good day
How often do you do them around others?
Maybe 2 on a good day
What is your greatest obstacle when performing reality checks in real life?
By the time I remember to do one, I already know whether or not it is a dream
What is your greatest obstacle when performing reality checks in a dream?
By the time I remember to do one, I already know it is a dream. I get excited and immediately run off to start an adventure.
How often do tests prove negative (while in the dream, it says you are awake)?
      Never for me.
How often do tests prove positive (but you don't become lucid)?
This has happened a few times. Maybe 1/100 if losing lucidity immediately counts.

I need to be more consistent, week to week with my RCing. I tend to RC like crazy one week, then completely stop the next.

      Do you use reality checks?
      Sometimes
      Why/why not?
They have helped me achieve many lucid dreams
      When?
When I can remember to do so
How often do you do them at home?
      Half the time
How often do you do them around others?
I do them around others like I would do them if I was alone.
What is your greatest obstacle when performing reality checks in real life?
      Remembering
