Okay Paragon, you're probably more right than me. I guess I am different (than anyone who likes to just stop existing for a while, I mean, I have only one life, to my knowledge, so I want to take the most fo it, than, if there's something after death, that's good but at least I'll be prepared if not)

      That's a good thing DreamVortex,

I'm not as couragous as you are though! XD
I talk about dreams every day with the people around me but try not to talk about 'lucid dreaming' because then it makes things akward when I think about dreams and they get annoyed so just talking about dreams keeps everyone interested in the subject and maybe one day I'll make it more interesting?

Well, I'll admit it myself, it does sound pretty crazy The only way to convince them is to prove it to them, either they have one or you have one and show them using the whole REM idea

Well I shared them my experience...where I woke up in a false awakening, but I learned I was LDing and Pac Man broke through my wall and started chasing me...then I ran outside and I was in the ocean...

I mean, it does sound pretty crazy.

At least, you've had your first LD Were you thinking about Pac Man at all when you had that?

My first LD was just me having a false awakening, I went to the bathroom and when the light didnt turn on I was like "Holy **** I'm Lucid Dreaming" (I was estatic xD) and then I like, felt my head caving in and my eyes tore open and I woke up.

This was my second, and it happened a few weeks ago. I woke up, and was like, "LDing.." because of the digital clock RC. Anyways, sort of. I was thinking, despite how stupid it sounds...what it would be like to play Pac Man while on PCP.

I need to slap some sense into myself sometimes, but an entertaining dream nonetheless. Swimming away from pacman.

I was thinking about this the other day. I ice skate, and I was thinking about trying to get an axel in a LD, to get the feel for it and get over mental barriers, then maybe I'd be able to do one in real life. Then when people are like , I'll just casually mentioned that I decided to dream about it and poof! But I doubt I can pull off an axel any time soon.

      Haha, swimming away from pacman.

Every time I wanted to talk about LDing, I asked "Have you ever had a dream in which you knew you're dreaming?" Most of the answers were yes, and less people looked me weird when I said what LD is.

      That's smart!

Ponyo: There are probably other people who are also thinking they're the only ones who know anything about dreaming. No one talks about it, so you wouldn't hear about other people--except maybe close friends--having lucid dreams.

I literally just learned about lucid dreaming yesterday. I don't think it's popular at all because people probably think it's "freaky". It does kind of scare me a little bit, but compels me even more.

I think that , while most people have had one, people do not realize that lucid dreaming can be induced. Can you imagine what would happen if ever there was a drug that is 100% effective in inducing lucid dreams? Do you think it would be banned? I do.

Why would it be banned? Unless it did something bad as well as inducing a lucid dream, I don't see why people would bother with banning it.

I think governments would want to study it for 20 or 30 years (lol) to observe the long term effects.

Does anyone know why people aren't interrested into Lucid Dreams? I've tried everything to get my family into LDing but they keep just wanting to have a dark night with nothing else thand black... It really annoys me. Then they say that I should come and leave in the real world and stop my fantasies.... URGH!

I think its the natural inclination of unenlightened individuals to immediately wake up when in LD. I have learned over the years how to stay in the moment and find them to be joyess events. Even the ones that start out a little weird are fasinating to me. I love the flying, and high jumping, and always awaken with a smile on my face. I do recall, when i had my first one over 40 years ago, being a little taken aback. People fear what they don't understand. I believe that the sleep studies community has taken on lucid dreaming as FACT. Its hard to deny something that virtually everyone has experienced to some degree. IMHO

Why aren't you interested in Wagner's operas? To me, they are the best thing on Earth, so why doesn't everyone watch them?

The answer is, we are all different...Different temperaments, desires and motivations. I'm sure that almost everyone would love LDs if they tried them - but then I'm also sure they'd love Wagner, just that the thought doesn't appeal to most people.

I've known about lucid dreaming for almost 30 years now and it has never really been popular. Not mainstream popular at least.

I've given up on sharing with people IRL. On occasion, someone will ask me about it, but it seems they have no more than passing interest.

Go figure. Lucid dreaming is the ultimate vacation/escape/mind game in the universe. I personally cannot understand why everyone doesn't want in on it.

I think it's not as popular because you can't actually see what people do in their lucids. As well as this, it's tough for some people to grasp the concept of lucidity, dream control, and basically, having to work for something they might not find worth it. For me it is, because I enjoy having fun while I'm sleeping, but some people think it's a waste of time.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

There is only one person that I have ever talked to at school about lucid dreams. He already knew about them before I talked to him about it and he also told me about a time he almost had an OBE or he thinks it may have almost been an OBE but thinking back on what he said he might have really just been close to a WILD but I didnt know that you could go from waking into a LD at the time we were talking about it much less the sensations he described.

He said he felt his whole body shaking and sliding around on his bed.
