Exactly! I am totally against severing heads and the like. But stuff like turning into a nightmare and haunting people are fine according to my morals.

Yeah, we could take the ones people liked the most, make a final "line-up" of about 5-10 tasks or so, and decide which ones are the best out of those. It would take some orginization though.

To Yourself/By Yourself:
Kill yourself: (Jumping off a cliff, set yourself on fire, Drink poison, Overdose on laughing gas and die, compare different ways of dying [drowning, burning nitrous oxide, systemic organ failure])
allow yourself to be eaten alive (by wolves, humans, carnivorous locusts, etc)
allow yourself to be swallowed whole by a giant carnivore and be digested

Specific Interaction with DCs:
Killing a Dream Character (rip heart out of their body, inject with acid, snap to make their head explode, kill your family, kill w/ a lightsabre, kill with a knife, order one to kill themselves, shrink them and step on them)
psychologically test a dream character with no ethical boundaries
vivisect a living dream character
Possess a DC,
Eat a DC's head
Rip off a DC's arms and legs
Amputate loads of DC's limbs and use them to create a weird, mutant monster thingy.
meet Hitler
Find twenty new inventive ways to make DCs scream!
Cut off someone elses emotions
Reconfigure someone elses mind
Snipe or assassinate a political figure
Allow someone to beat you up without fighting back
Eat a baby
Punch a DC so hard that it changes gender

Focus on the darker side of shapeshifting (pain? grotesqueness? all the details you never bother with in a lighter dream. Also holds for regeneration of flesh, if a death fails)

General Ideas:
Crash a Car

Fight a giant Hollywood monster with your bare hands
Pit Godzilla and those ugly things from Cloverfield against each other.
Go back in time with a modern/future weapon, and break things
Get the gravity hammer from Halo, and then smash the hell out of everything.

Action Moviesque:
Rob a Bank
Take on the world with a gun of choice.
Go on an epic police chase on a motorbike.
Get in an extreme shooutout
Have a one-on-one shootout, but whilst flying

That is a big list of things to do... good thing I have at least half done <.<

Would it be alright if I got some part of the organizing job? I'm thinking, start up a new thread, with all the ideas in the first post. Every week, four of them are chosen, 2 easy, 2 hard, one of each moderately dark, i.e. Rob a bank, and one of each super evil, like my last post. We keep this thread open, for more ideas, and any idea which is supported by 3 or more people is edited into the new thread.

So what do you think? Can I do it? Pretty please?

I think it'd be better if we made all of these incredibly sadistic tasks like torturing and etc. fall under an umbrella "Kill a DC, how do you do it." Some of these are just getting weird, and it seems like with such sadistic tasks a lot of people don't really feel like participating. If we just have "kill a DC" it might not be as bad, and we won't be inundated with repetitive ideas about torturing and maiming.

I agree. Those that are similar will be branched together, e.g., have "Kill a DC"
Instead of:
1. Knife a DC
2. Shoot a DC, etc.

However, some of these are quite different, like, shove a grenade down a DC's throat, eat his head, rip out a DC's spine and beat him to death with it, etc.

So, can I get it started? Please?

Don't have anything specific to address, but I agree with your going ahead and making a thread.

I'm all for it. I also like the idea of having less and more evil categories.

Here's the Final Amendment to the plan.

One thread, titled "Ideas for Dark Lucid Tasks", which will contain all the approved Ideas, in different categories. From here, the people shall vote on which four to do. (Remember, two easy, two hard, one of each moderately dark, and one super evil.)

The four most popular will be sorted out into a new thread, titled "Dark Task for the Month of..." In the same layout as the regular tasks of the month.

This thread will be kept open in order to keep collecting ideas, and four each month will be approved, and added to the Ideas thread.

Is that OK?



One last question, what forum should these threads be in, I was thinking Dream Control for the Ideas thread, but would we be allowed to use the Task of the Month forum for the Tasks themselves?
I'll get started on the Ideas thread in the meantime.

Prank someone in a creative way
Be abducted by aliens and attempt to take over the space ship
Fight a famous "bad guy" in an epic fight such as Darth Vader, The Joker, Lex Luthor

I support those, so if you can get another person to agree, then it's settled.

The idea from now on is that, in order to prevent too many ideas from crowding up the Ideas thread, any proposes idea has to be supported by two other people. In the case of yours, I agree, so if you can get one more persons support, I will take care of the rest.

Oh, ok I understand now.

I have no problem with you guys having an informal dark tasks, but there is no way that this will become an official part of DV. By nature, the tasks are to be PG, they always have been. Seeker made it that way when he started them, Clairity kept it that way when she chose the task, and I intend to keep it that way too. Sorry guys

I didn't expect it do ever have any official capacity, did anyone? The thread title does even have the word "informal" in.

Suggestion:
-manipulate a group of dream characters into paranoid/greedy/lustful/insane/etc. murderers. Be the last man standing. (Inspiration: Mitadake High online game)

Also, I second "Prank someone in a creative way" for a potentially-dark/barely-dark task. Though "creative way," the reason I like it, is subjective, that brings up the question of who judges subjective tasks? A panel of members, or would any one of the several members involved with regulating the dark task be the one to verify? Or are we just using these for inspiration, and posting results or not posting results?

Isn't that why they're called dark tasks? Because they're not meant to be PG? I'm sure that these were meant to be separate from the normal tasks of the month.
