I suspect that your dream became unstable from the sex (just because you said you wanted to do it quickly so you wouldn't wake up), causing it to end and for you to get "stuck." Remember that it's not real.

Everything requires your attention to exist in dreams. You mentioned how the plot fades in LD, that's because the plot gets replaced by a new one, that of a lucid dream.
The same thing happened when you started having sex, the attention you had on your surroundings shifted to the sensations of having sex, not leaving enough attention to sustain your envoronment, so it faded away.
Sounds like you were almost awake, so it makes sense you'd encounter SP.
