      Need some help setting alarm

      Hi guys,

I'm new here, but last summer I had excellent dream recall and many lucids because I read stuff similiar to what is on this forum, and it got me really into it. Now that it's summer again, I want to start remembering dreams again, and maybe have a few lucids

I have a nice alarm that wakes me up without enough confusion to make me forget my dream, however, I don't know what would be the optimal times to set it. I fall asleep around 11 every night. If anyone could suggest 3 times to me, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks all, and see you 'round the forums!

It is best to wake up during or after a REM period.

Ermm I am not sure when they are.
I am sure shift will find this thread and answer this for you. Shes good at this stuff.

You should just experiment and see when your REM cycles end. They generally get longer as the night goes on, so it really depends on how much sleep you get.

If you're planning to WBTB, this is an excellent tutorial to read.

90 minute intervals is the general rule. When do you wake up? Set your alarms backwards from that time in 90 minute increments. I say that, because those would be your longest REM periods, as Hazel metioned. I'd only wake up once or twice if I were you, just for getting proper sleep quality.

90 minutes should get you off to a great start, but it's different for everyone. Keep your sleep schedule constant (should be easy, since it's summer) and you'll be able to customize over the course of a few weeks.
