How do people respond to knowing about lucid dreaming?

Have you / do you tell your non-lucid friends about lucid dreaming? How do they respond, if you do? Do they believe you?

They believe me, tell me they want to try it, and give up after the first night.

Depends on the person, honestly. Their general mindframe and beliefs, and also past experience with sleep, dreams, and any natural lucid dreams they've had. Some of my closer friends have expressed either having had them, or not having had them but believed me 100% (they know me enough to know that if I talk about something it's legit). Others I've briefly mentioned it to commented on their own past experiences with natural lucids and/or lucidity from nightmares and how much it freaked them out, but I dropped the topic because they were clearly not very open minded because of these past experiences and/or personal beliefs. So yea, depends. Generally, people I have brought it up to have responded very positively. I think a lot of people DEILD and/or get random DILDs.

Depening on the person, they act interested or are genuinely interested. My dad acts interested, my mom sometimes really is. My friends are estatic over it, but wouldn't go so far as to try to induce lucids. I mean, if they're into it, then they are, but you can't force them to get into it >.>

Some friends will say, "theres no way, how could anyone possibly prove you could do that in your sleep? Ive never dreamt in my life" and some will passively say "oh, thats cool"
One friend of mine actually started a dream journal, but stopped after a day or two.

Sooner or later I tell every one in my old timer friend group about LD. One of them tried it the night I told about the thing. He succeeded in the first try and came to tell me about it very enthusiastically and it was a good one too. But after that he never mentioned about it. It was like he completely forgot the experience and I found it very strange at that time. Not everyone gets addicted with the first succesfull try. People seem to have other things that they find cooler than LD.

Some of my friends are natural lucid dreamers and others think I'm a crazy person.

Funny this topic should come up. I often go on about LD'ing to my mrs but she can wind me up really bad. She totally does not believe they exist and says all they are are dreams where I "think" I am in control but they are still normal dreams. How frustrating is that analogy. I've told her she is completely wrong, I am just as conscious in my dream as I am in real life and the decisions I make while lucid are all concious decisions but Noooooo - according to her I'm still dreaming all this.

I've tried explaining the difference we all feel between a normal dream and an LD, I've explained how I know i'm dreaming and know in my dream that I am really lying next to her yet i'm asleep and dreaming but she says thats just part of the dream I am having.

How on earth do I convince her (I'm stubborn by the way - she WILL believe lol)

I've told her I'm going to talk to her non stop about it and give her dream signs to look out for. One day she'll wake up and say sorry, I just had an LD.
Lucid at least once a week, mainly on weekends.

most people I try to talk to about it seem pretty uninterested. Maybe I can be more convincing when I have a LD to tell them about
