      Recall of awakening

More specifically, being able to recall the transition from dream to waking.

      Has anyone had this?

For me, I've experienced it tthree times. The first time was the first (and only) sustained lucid dream I've had. The fading of the dream felt like water draining in a bath tub.

The second time, I wasn't lucid, and It was like I was moving through very different layers of some sort of atmosphere. It was very gently and nice.

The third time was like I was being teleported from the dream world to the waking world, only if the "teleporter" was some sort of early prototype - what I mean by this is that my vision was filled with a lot of "color splitting"; not sure if there is a name for it but what I mean is that it was like the picture on an old, fucked up television. Also, it hurt. Like I was running through a brick wall.

Anyone have any experience like this (specifically the third instance)?

For me it's usually a gradual fade to black scenario in the dream. Things become less and less solid until there isn't enough left to even call a dream and I wake up.

Sometime it's sudden, like if I die in the dream suddenly.

you mean how do we usually wake up from LD's? it's like the dream fades or something and within a split second I'm "teleported" to my bed, no consiousness loss at all- one moment I'm dreaming and the next I'm in real life
TAKE DV members advice with caution! some have had zero or 1-2 LD's yet act like gurus
      TOTAL LD's (almost all DILD/MILD) =160!!

Yeah you two have described things I have experienced; I think we're on the same page, and that is really cool. But I guess what im really interested in is if anyone has experienced pain in the process?

Pain in the process? No. It is always the dream fading and me finding myself on bed <.<

Pain is also a HH that I have heard people experience, though more rarely. It's possible that that's what you're experiencing.

I don't usually feel pain in dreams. In order to feel pain, you need to focus your attention on it. I'm usually more focused on whatever caused that pain (so I can kick it's ass!) than the pain it's self.

HH? Yeah, that's gotta be what it was. Sweet, now I know what it is.
