      Lazy Lucidity

I had a dream last night. Here's how it goes. You'll laugh. Maybe.

I was walking down an airport looking place, but it was a shoe store. I noticed a COW(Computer On Wheels) as I walked by it. I turned a corner and sat on a part of the wall that was sticking out about three feet. I looked around the corner to see the COW, but it wasn't there.
"This can't be real... Computers don't just disappear!" I said. I started to stand up, but when I was almost up, I felt a lot of pain in my legs. So I sat back down and said,"Oh, it is real..." I begin to get dizzy and I wake up.
I kick myself every time I think about it. Mostly because if it were real, I would have sucked it up and walked away.

While I'm at it, let me ask you this, do you act differently unintentionally in your dreams?

I usually act the same way in dreams as I do in real life. Unless, that is, I'm dreaming I'm someone like Captain Jack Sparrow. Then I'll act like him.

It is crazy how your mind sometimes seems to try and keep you from realizing you are lucid. You were tricked by your own mind. Don't worry about it, it happens to all of us. Just go out and try again next time! Good Luck!

The reason you act differently in a normal dream is because the logic in your brain is totally switched off.

Being concious (i.e. lucid) of course means you understand the things around you.

      I disagree
The sole definition of lucidity is 'knowing that you are dreaming'.
I have pretty loose logic in my lucids as well as my nons, it's just a matter of how I feel in the dream.

I often have a 'haze' or 'fog in my non-lucid dreams, and even sometimes in my lucids.
Not sure how to define this, best not to over complicate things.

Well, I keep reading people saying that the logic part of your brain is not active in a dream. but once you are concious, you have logic.

Although, now that I think about it, I haven't really had much logic in LDs. so now I just don't know.

I always act different in dreams, in even lucid dreams. If you don't plan ahead, on what you want to do while lucid. There is a good chance of you wandering off and doing the first thing that comes to mind, and then it is very easy to fall back into a normal dream.

I act differently in my non-lucids, I am usually more brave generally, louder, more fun to be around in some ways. I talk a lot of smack in non-lucids that I wouldn't in real life.

I guess to explain I guess it happens because the dream body doesn't have hormones and adrenalin, anxiety issues, introversion, hypersensitivity etc. It doesn't have BS like this that just kicks in for practically no reason, so in non-lucid dreams I'm free of this. If you feel fear in your dreams, it's fear. It's not some chemical reaction in your body ocurring because it's simply flawed and I could go on and on.

In my non-lucids I always seem to act as if there is no consequence, so I usally do the opposite of what I would do while awake. This often gets me into trouble, but makes for interesting dreams.

However when I'm lucid I tend to just ignore everything and do my own thing. So I can't really say I act any differently because when I go lucid I generally know what I want to do.
How blessed are some people, whose lives have no fears, no dreads; to whom sleep is a blessing that comes nightly, and brings nothing but sweet dreams.
