Have you ever just stopped and listened?

Have you ever just stopped doing things in a dream and just listened? You'll often find its completely quiet.
Once when I tried to do this it was silent, then the sound of Squidward off Spongebob suddenly started coming from nowhere.

No, I haven't, but I imagine it would be like how you described it. But then again, it's all about how you think it would be.

I tried that on my second LD. Was pretty creepy. o_o
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Its another one of those things that suddenly makes everything feel alone and artificial, just like looking at a DCs eyes.

hmm should definitely attempt this. usually I just "slow down" and look around it really helps make the LD more vivid and last longer

TAKE DV members advice with caution! some have had zero or 1-2 LD's yet act like gurus

Haha, weird stuff like that can pop out of nowhere. I find it very interesting.

If you just sit there and stare, you'll likely wake up. This is because your eyes will stop moving, and you will no longer be in REM. Stephen LeBerge explains it in Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming.

I realized that too. My lucid dreams are quiet. I like other people in my dream to make it less quiet and more interesting, so I usually attempt to spawn my friends in the dream with me.

You only have to stop for a few seconds. You could always rub your hands or something if you wanted to sit there for a while.

Yeah, not many times though, it is so peaceful when there are either monsters or animals, and annoying with people, because they won't stop asking/moving/being in the way <.<

Lol, last night I just stopped and looked around. It seemed to be silent, like the world stopped around me. I enjoyed just looking at the dream world. It gives me a great sense of freedom (especially now that exams are tomorrow xD)

Now do it while being in the middle of a busy city you have been to and see what happens.
      Auckland maybe?
