DC's who try to take control of the dream

Last night was a weird experience for me. I had a dream that began as a mixture of youtube videos I watched shortly before bed, and turned into something quite odd indeed.

The entire dream can be read here, and probably should be read for the full understanding of the dream, but I'll put just the most important part in quotes below for anyone short of time.

(Blue = non lucid, Green = lucid, Black = non-dream/comment)

It was the following day, then, and the newcomer was knocking at the door of Martin's gf. She was suddenly in an apartment now instead of a house. "Come in." The reply to the knock came. But it wasn't Martin's gf's voice. The newcomer opened the door, and found Martin's gf standing there, motionless, black swirls in her eyes. Next to her was the evil woman. "Now you listen to me." The evil woman said. Martin's gf robotically spoke the same words at the same time; it was like their brains had been connected, and the evil woman's was the dominant of the two. "Do what I say, or she dies." The newcomer was strangely able to resist the mind-controlling power of the evil woman. "You don't have to live this way." She told the evil woman. "I can help you." The evil woman laughed, which also made Martin's motionless girlfriend laugh in an emotionless and robotic tone. The two laughs combined were chilling. "Help me? I'm doing this for you!" The newcomer raised a single eyebrow in confusion at the evil woman's saying. "I'm doing this for her!" She continued, pointing at Martin's gf. But then something really weird happened. The evil woman looked not just in my direction as the spectator, but at me, even though I wasn't there. I could feel my real body for a moment, but then it got sucked in, and I was standing in that apartment room, also motionless and unable to move of my own accord. "I'm doing it...for him!" The evil woman finished. I then felt my eyes rolling back into my head, unstoppably, and black swirls began to cover my vision. But then I heard the newcomer start panicking. "No! Don't!" She cried in desperation. "He controls the dream; if you control him, you'll kill us all! We can't exist without him being the one in control!" The evil woman snapped back (the gf still saying all of her words at the same time): "Idiot! We'll stop existing as soon as he wakes up!" Then I felt myself uncontrollably begin to say the same things as the evil woman as well. "If I take control of him, we can continue existing forever! None of us have to die! I'm saving us all!" But at the same time as the evil woman was talking, I was thinking about what the newcomer had said about it being a dream. Pretty soon, I figured out...it was a dream! Summoning all my energy into one panicked move, I thrust my head forward, said "Not today!" (which the gf said at the same time as me, this time) and with one jerk of my head (the only thing I could move on my own), I broke the dream like a pane of glass, and woke myself up.
So what do you guys make of this?

DC's who seemed to be secretly aware of their dream existence, and one who was so afraid of not existing anymore that she was willing to try and control me as the dreamer and keep me from waking up? It seems like paradoxes left and right...the DC's were self-admittedly DC's and not other dreamers, so they were just my mind. So my mind attempting to control itself makes no sense, and yet I really was being controlled against my will.

      Totally bizarre, IMO...

I don't see anything really strange there, however, I am insanely jealous. That sounds likem such an epic dream, although alot of the credit should go to your literal skills, its written really well.

Am i the only one thinking this sounds kinda freaky? I something like that happened to me in a dream, I would have panicked. (Seing as thinking rational in dreams can be quite hard)

I have however, had DCs attack me once i told them it was a dream. Kinda freaky, "Mom, this is my dream. Get out!" Followed by her turning into some kinda skeleton/lich/whatever and attacking me. I woke up in mainly the same manner as you though, I was being held down by some force, and when I shot forward to make that force let go, i sat up in bed

      DC's controlling dreams.

Interesting. In some ways it's better then having no DC's around, and in some ways it's not, because they seem relativly inteligent.

I've had a DC KINDA like this before....I wasn't supposed to leave the house because my "parents" were coming home. IDK. This was actually a TOTM dream back in November...

Why, thank you! I do put some effort in writing down any dream that means much to me; it's nice to see someone notice it

Looking back on it, I actually find it to be a pretty cool experience. But at the time, I definitely was panicked; very freaked out. Especially when that one woman looked at me before I had even bodily entered the dream! It was like she looked at my soul and pulled it in by force. I was so surprised to see a DC exercise any form of control over me; that thought just never entered my mind as a possibility before.

Thanks for sharing that! A pretty mind bending dream I say..lol.

The part about you breaking the dream like a pane of glass is very interesting to me.Once, I had a DEILD/OBE and unexpectedly smacked right into a glass like barrier that stopped me and woke me up. :/

DCs never cease to amaze me.It is not at all unusual for them to exercise some type of control in my dreams, but mostly in a positive way.

      Some examples;
Sometimes they do things in my dreams that seem like they're trying to make me Lucid, other times they have "kicked me out" of my own lucid dream.Just last week in a regular dream,a DC "healed" my [dream body]lower back by giving me a strong pinch.I had been in pain for 2 weeks with a bad strain,I woke up free of pain and have been ever since.
A few weeks ago I became Lucid in a train tunnel,a DC grabbed my hand and stopped me when I tried to fly off.I was surprised by the pull on my hand, when I looked at her she said "don't do that here".

I could give alot more examples, but I better stop now before I start to get all "beyond dreaming" like.Very cool topic,I hope this thread stays active.

Well, I didn't mean quite like that...it was more for descriptive writing than a description of what it actually looked/felt like. I just meant that I attempted to destroy the dream completely, and I succeeded. It all fell away from my vision like it was broken into a thousand pieces. In my case there was no sensation of hitting anything.

What happened to you is very interesting, though. We may never know why exactly our minds create random barriers in our dreams like that, when really no surface in a dream is any more inhibiting to our movement than any other

I put it down to your mind telling itself stories. I guess your brain threw a plot twist at you. I've had similar experiences where I realize that I'm dreaming and try to take on the nightmare character, but it just keeps coming. As if it has more control over the dream than I do. A couple of the folks in Beyond Dreaming have talked about a "Shadow Self" that has a bit more of you in it than most of your other dream characters do.

Mostly, I think it has to do with the effort that you put into lucid dreaming while you're awake. If you're regularly thinking about dreaming, your mind is going to start putting together these bizarre hypotheticals that you'd never think of otherwise.

I pick up a half-eaten copy of a book by Neil Gaiman, and decide this is all his fault.

What were the vids you watched? By any chance did you see the one Dannon Oneironaut posted from the end of Time Bandits? I think he posted it last night on a thread in here, and it had a midget being mind-controlled so that he mindlessly repeated everything his master said. It was freaky, and sounded just like what you describe.

Also I remember another thread I saw yesterday where I think Joroara said something about "If God stopped thinking about the universe it would suddenly cease to exist". There was also a recent thread about all of the universe being the dream of a sleeping god (A Hindu belief) posted by Sleepyzac.

These ideas taken together would pretty much account for the dream I think. I often dream of things I read in here that day.

It wasn't any of the stuff you listed, although I did get to them via links on DV. This was the first one, and this was the other. Remember these were just what influenced the beginning of the dream; most of what I wrote about has little to do with either one. If you pay attention you'll see some characters and locations that match up, though.

I cant remember where it was a really long time ago before I joined this site, I read this story, and it reminds me of this. This guy had a experience like this, but the DC took control of the person, and kicked him out of his body. Then he went uncontentious. He woke up again, and had to attack the DC to get his body back. He woke up, and he had slept all day yesterday or so he thought. His parents said he was awake yesterday. His parents also said everything seemed new to him.

It definitely seemed possible for something like that to happen when I was going through it, Alexander1656. Is that story on DV? I'd be interested in checking it out.

(quick off-topic question. Samael, I really increased the number of line breaks in my DJ today. This look better?)

This has got to be the coolest dream I've read in a while. Now I want it to happen to me so I could see what I'd do! XD

This is my theory. They obviously knew they were DCs, so maybe they were manifestations of different parts of your personality? The evil woman wanted to take you over, so she might've been a darker part of yourself determined to make you, the main personality, comatose so the dream could exist forever under her control.

Whoa...that's a scary thought. Even to myself. O_O

And I agree, the dream is very well written.

All I can say is yes, that is a very bizarre dream. I don't do dream interpretations, so I won't attempt it and lead you down a path of confusion and lies. That was a pretty killer dream, and the ending even moreso, I'll say!
