      Can't wake up from dream?

This morning I had a messed up dream. I was in a Zelda like field. It looked like this pic in the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXXF0...=youtube_gdata but twice its size. The buildings were big. And there was a huge metal wall in the back ground. It was like one big domain. I could see full vision of it. I could walk and feel my legs moving. It was crazy. I tried waking my self up from it but I failed. How can I keep waking my self up from dreams like this? What are dreams like this called?

Whenever I want to wake up, I focus on the senses from my waking body and also close my eyes and try to block out the dream. Try twisting and flailing around and you might shake yourself awake.

Whenever i want to wake up form a bad dream or nightmare, i just close my eyes, then open them quickly like I'm waking up, and i do. I did it many times bafore i found out about LDing and if i knew i could change the dream, i wouldn't want to make myself wake up.

I purposefully woke myself up in an LD once by closing my eyes and picturing myself lying in bed. I also imagined the feeling of my covers and clothing I was wearing.
Make sure to do an RC if you end up in your bed, though, as it may be a false awakening. ;D
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Try hurting yourself. Bite your arm, punch yourself, etc etc.

Well, if you do not feel like exploring, why don't you spin until you teleport.
If you can, try to conjure a bed, lie down and try to sleep. If you fall asleep you might awake or false awake.

I have had several dreams like this.. wanting to wake up, but couldn't.. wanting to change the dream but again.. couldn't.

And for advise. Try to change the dream first, having a lucid is in my opninion always better than waking up. And if all else fails, I wouldn't advise trying to hurt yourself. I've tried it, and for me it didn't work at all, it actually made the dream more of a torment than it already was.

Sudden twitchy movements, closing your eyes opening them again, or anything with adrenalin in it seems to be the way to go. For me i normally wake up from nightmares through the movement part, intentionally or not.
