Just Had My First Lucid Dream!

It was a DILD too! And it happened only about a week after I've began looking into all of this stuff!

In real life I have recently been reality checking quite a bit, such as pinching myself, checking clocks twice, and closing my nose and trying to breath through it. And so, in the middle of my dream, I am walking around in a mall, and I randomly decide to pinch my nose shut and try to breath through it (out of RL habit most likely) and, magically, I could! My first thought: Wow! I just became lucid. I don't really remember what happened next, and I woke up soon after. I'll have to learn to stabilize my LD's in the future..

Great experience though! Can't wait to have another!
      That's what she said.

Oh, cool you got your first LD! Advice though, try stabilizing after RCing so that it will become habit in dreams too.

Hello there!Congratulations on your first lucid.I don't recommend that you use pinching as a reality check though, since you can feel pain in dreams just like in reality.A reality check that is just as simple would be trying to push your finger through the palm of your hand,if its a dream it may go through your hand.

As for stabilizing the dream, you can use the techniques you read about such as rubbing hands or spinning.I recommend looking at all the detail in your dream and using your senses, try to feel the texture on objects and listen to what is happening around you.

Nice! That's usually how most people's first LD is, where it only lasts a few seconds. Stabilizing is the next step. Dunno if you've heard this from something or someone yet, but when you're lucid dreaming, the less attention you pay to an object, the less detail it will have. Focusing on one particular object gives it more detail, but starts de-stabilizing everything else around you. Try and pay attention to everything you can. If things aren't going well, do the good ol' 'Rubbing your hands together' thing, or spinning. After a bit, you'll be able to stabilize your dreams for a longer period of time.
