Could this work?? Simplified Reality Check

A friend of mine told me that about a year ago or so, he simply would wake up every morning and write a big letter A on the palm of his left hand to indicate that he was awake.

He explains that he does this in the morning so its on his hand the whole day, and whenever he notices it, he tells himself, "Oh, I guess I'm awake." His rationale is that in a dream, he would not have that "A" on his hand and thus realizes that he is dreaming.

After doing this for a while, he now says that he has a lucid dream every other night and no longer needs to write the "A" on his hand. Let's assume he's telling the truth. Could this simplified version of the RC actually work? Flaws/suggestions?

Note: Currently I am thinking about lucid dreaming so much that about every hour I will see if I can put my finger through my hand or fly. When it doesn't work, I conclude I'm awake.

Yeah, I would imagine so. I've started doing something similar with a necklace and a bracelet. I usually have one or the other and when I see it I do an RC. It's yet to carry over into my dreams though.

The only flaw I could see with this RC is that you may get so used to seeing the "A" on your hand that when you dream the "A" may carry over. This may not be true but usually dreams are about stuff that goes on around us and what we see every day. I'm not saying it's a bad idea because it's definatly worth it just to try this RC and see if there are any results. I'll try it and let you know what happens.

That's kind of the point. The A will carry over into the dream and you see it in the dream and it trigger's a RC, and leads to a lucid. Just don't start slacking on the RCs and it should work.

Right so basicly its more of a MILD or DILD then an RC. The "A" is a way to remind your self to do an RC and then if it carries over into your dream you will see it and do an RC and if you don't see it then you know your dreaming any way. I tried writing the "A" on my hand today and I was doing RCs alot so it is a good way to remember to do RCs at least. I will see if it helps me become lucid tonight.

No luck with this technique as of yet. Last night I didn't do any RCs despite having been RCing all day. Now granted I did not expect this to work after one try so I will let you know how it goes after a couple nights. Also DOUBBLE POST! I apologize for any spelling errors, English isn't my strong suite. I speak American...

haha thanks for the feedback. just wondering if it was even plausible, since I was also thinking that the "A" would simply be overlooked in the dream.
