I hadn't had a lucid dream in a while, but I just took a 40 minute nap in my lab at my university and it felt like half of that time was spent having a series of very vivid lucid dreams.
I do not think this is a coincidence. I think that my brain was more active than normal, like it hadn't completely gone asleep. This could be a defense mechanism. If you are in an unknown area, or a place you haven't slept before, your brain could keep your brain active enough to process signals (like sound) from the outside world. This could keep you alive if there was a predator near your camp or something.
I know it isn't feasible in the long run, but I think you should give it a shot if you have the means to try it. These were some of the most vivid lucid dreams I've had.
Let me know your thoughts.
