Thread: Reiki Attunement

I've got 2 persons in my family who went through some sort of reiki training and as far as I can see it didn't change them, nor did I ever witness them perform any extraordinary feat. Their wallets got lighter though.

One of them went on to sell reiki sessions which probably ended up producing more money than what was spent in training, so I guess there's an upside to it.

I've been attuned to Reiki and received first degree (level 1) training. I've also used Reiki to help heal people before, and have had Reiki done on myself as well, and have also been able to detect where physical/emotional problems are on someone based on feeling and sensing their energy field. Long distance Reiki works under the same principles; that the Reiki practitioner facilitates the flow of Reiki and that Reiki does the healing. My view on it is that Reiki is sacred healing energy that comes from the divine, and I believe it works and I've witnessed it working.

For me personally, it took experience and time before I was really receptive to energy, and then when I started to learn Reiki I was already able to physically feel some of the energy sensations. But for others it takes more time to feel/sense things, others it takes less, but I believe its just a matter of being open and receptive to learning it and recognizing that Reiki is real and that healing does take place. I also have posts about my Reiki experiences in this thread. I truly believe in spiritual healing, so if you want to go get training in it to learn Reiki then go for it. I think its awesome and I'd recommend this type of healing to anyone.

Depending on how receptive you are to energy or spiritual things, you may feel the attunement more or less intensely. But the attunement increases a person's ability to facilitate the flow of Reiki, as well as energy in general. So you may find that you can sense energy better afterward. The Reiki teacher uses the Reiki symbols during the attunement as well.

But the training part is just as important as the attunement, if not more important in my opinion because thats when you learn energy sweeping, dips or blocks in someone's energy field, the hand positions, ect. The attunement simply opens you up more to using Reiki and sensing energy, and is not required to use Reiki. Someone without an attunement would still be able to do Reiki, but usually (there are always exceptions) it's not to the extent of someone who has had the training and attunement.

Completely off topic but, how did you like the MAP program Cosmix? Did your experiences live up to the books promise?

And Neo Neo, since my mom had her problem with reiki teachers, what qualities do you expect out of a reiki master? How can the practitioner be reassured that their attunement ritual is authentic?

Thanks for sharing your experiences Very interesting stuff, I'm excited/nervous for my attunement this Saturday. What has the feedback been like from people you have healed?

The MAP Program was incredible. While I didn't have a typical OBE/AP I had some very interesting/peculiar experiences. It also provided me with an excellent meditation/energy work routine, that I still try to follow to this day, but instead of one big hour long meditation I break it up into morning and night. Some experiences while doing it:

- I had my first lucid dream from it (which actually kind of steered me away from OBE/AP and more into trying to perfect Lucid Dreaming)
- Energy Raising and Chakra stimulation were quite intense and made me realize were much more than just physical bodies.
- Learning to enter deep states of trance were awesome, I would have scenes flash through my vision, and sometimes here a voice speaking directly to me (possibly higher self).
- I had two experiences where I woke up at night and could feel/sense a couple beings standing around my bed, I could even see outlines of their figures, I never had the feeling of fear but more of fascination. I had the feeling they were like trying to help me out of body but I always ended up falling back asleep.
- At the end of the program instead of wanting to have an OBE/AP I was much more interested in focusing inward, if you know what I mean.
- I also became much more calm and centered, I use to have crazy outbursts while driving and I would just get angry really easily, but now those are very rare. I also use to think really negatively and have found myself a much happier person focusing on love and peace (kind of corny but yeah lol).

Oh and I use to get sick quite often but I haven't been in sick in almost a year. I feel it has something to do with the energy work and/or living more peacefully.

I lost interest in APs and I stopped following the book, but that makes me wanna try all over again.

Well, Reiki is usually something people literally feel, unless they've had a closed mind to it, or don't think it's possible and don't want the healing energy. The attunement is a process which significantly opens a person up to the Reiki energy, therefore the person receiving the attunement receives a greater concentration of Reiki at once than in a regular healing session.

But other than experiencing the attunement directly, there are other tip-offs that a Reiki master might be a fraud. "Authentic" ones will have certification of some kind, and I've found that many Reiki practitioners usually have training in massage therapy as well. The Reiki teacher I had was trained and certified in massage therapy as well as energy healing, and his certifications are posted on his website.

My personal opinion, is that the Reiki master is someone who has knowledge of healing, is going to act professional, yet is also kind and is open to other healing ways as well, and not boasting the fact that they have reached this "master" level. Granted, they're still human beings like us so they'll still have ups and downs, but generally will have a positive outlook. Reiki to me, and me personally wanting to be a healer, is somewhat of a lifestyle in itself. I don't to speak for all Reiki masters, but they should be down to earth people who provide their services but don't obsess over it like it will fix everything or that its the best thing ever. I do thinks its awesome, and I'll get excited over Reiki, but I also know it is sacred energy and view it as lifestyle as well. As an example, of Usui's teachings is "Just for today, do not anger" and is part of the Reiki affirmations. They will understand that everyone has their things they are going through and be empathetic towards them.

This website:What is Possible for a Reiki Master? has a description of how it is being a Reiki master, and to me it implies that being a master is being on a spiritual path; they want to be in the love and light and they want to help others and humanity.

People that I've done Reiki to have reported significant changes, and especially for people more sensitive to spiritual energy. Other friends that are closed off to spiritual things report less or nothing, and some people just don't perceive as much.

People have reported pain going away and feeling "lighter" in areas that have needed healing or that I've removed blocks. Over the summer I was able to do a tiny bit of Reiki, and during one session this person had not been healed before, and had lots of blocks in their energy field due to stress and other factors unknown. After doing sweeping and getting their energy flowing again, they reported instantly feeling different and lighter in those areas.

But if I'm going to have a Reiki healing session, I try to keep it as professional as I can and always make sure whoever I'm going to heal is comfortable and whether or not the healing is hands on (literally) or not.

And again, the more practice of doing Reiki to yourself by affirmations and meditation will open up yourself more to it naturally. You may or may not be perceptive to some things at once, but I can testify that Reiki is real and does heal physically/emotionally. It may be subtle or it may be more significant, it all depends on the need and what is being healed. Be open to it and enjoy this training and attunement! Relax and let the energy flow!
