Putting together the pieces of the jigsaw

Let's see what we have here:

-sun rises 2 days early in greenland.
-tampa airport forced to remap runways
      -mass bird deaths
      -mass fish deaths
-wild weather all over the globe
-earths wobble and tilt increasing = new zodiac sign
      -earths magnetic field weakening

      =magnetic pole reversal
      =2012 ascension

Hope you guys are ready because its happening!

It's not going to happen. It's not going to happen.

...Fuck, I don't know if it's going to happen or not.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

The only reasonable course of action is to stare at a compass and wait for it to flip.

Maybe if we keep talking about it on the internet, it'll actually happen.

My friend was trying to tell there was mass owl deaths somewhere earlier when people were talking about 2012, has anyone else heard about this, I see nothing on google. I said do you mean redwinged blackbirds and he said, "no, I heard about that too, this is something else".

Goodness...I surely hope the world ends in 2012. I took out all these school loans expecting to never have to pay them back! Imagine, people actually taking responsibility for their lives. And fuck, that means I'll actually have to go to the dentist before my teeth rot out from lack of dental care. Also I just realized...it's going to be 2012 for an entire year before the world gets on with exploding itself in December. DAMN. And I thought I would be outta here in a year. *sigh*

I predict: mass suicide in 2013.

      Wait for it.

      By the way the cows

But even if entire heards of animals are dying that really doesn't mean anything, besides maybe we polluted the area that they were in, and even that might not be. The earth has had periods of extreme weather in the past, what makes you believe that this will cause some kind of ascension?

That article clearly talks about diseases being the cause, what the hell does that have to do with weather...

I was referring to the OP. He says animal deaths and extreme weather are signs of the coming ascension. I don't think it makes any sense either, but I have friends who think something(none of them seem to know what, except the guy who says aliens will come and liberate us) is going to happen in 2012, so I wanted to see why he thought this.

If you look at the comments from the article one guy says that there's no way a virus could have caused this and he thinks the cause is nightshade or some other toxin in the food supply. This makes more sense to me because if a disease was the cause it would seem that the cattle would drop off one by one over a period of days, not just all at once. I dunno, I know jack shit about cows.

"Large wildlife die-off events are fairly common, though they should never be ignored, according to the U.S. Geological Survey scientists whose preliminary tests showed that the bird deaths in Arkansas on New Year’s Eve and those in Louisiana were caused by impact trauma.

Preliminary findings from the USGS National Wildlife Health Center's Arkansas bird analyses suggest that the birds died from impact trauma, and these findings are consistent with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission's statement.

The state concluded that such trauma was probably a result of the birds being startled by loud noises on the night of Dec. 31, arousing them and causing them to fly into objects such as houses or trees.

Scientists at the USGS NWHC performed necropsies – the animal version of an autopsy – on the birds and found internal hemorrhaging, while the pesticide tests they conducted were negative. Results from further laboratory tests are expected to be completed in two to three weeks.

“Although wildlife die-offs always pose a concern, they are not all that unusual,” said Jonathan Sleeman, director of the USGS NWHC in Madison, Wis., which is completing its analyses of the Arkansas and Louisiana birds. “It's important to study and understand what happened in order to determine if we can prevent mortality events from happening again.”

In 2010, the USGS NWHC documented eight die-off events of 1,000 or more birds. The causes: starvation, avian cholera, Newcastle disease and parasites, according to Sleeman.

Such records show that, while the causes of death may vary, events like the red-winged blackbird die-off in Beebe, Ark., and the smaller one near Baton Rouge, La., are more common than people may realize.

And Sleeman should know – he directs a staff of scientists whose primary purpose is to investigate the nation's wildlife diseases from avian influenza to plague and white-nose syndrome in bats.

“The USGS NWHC provides information, technical assistance, research, education, and leadership on national and international wildlife health issues,” Sleeman added.

According to USGS NWHC records, there have been 188 mortality events across the country involving 1,000 birds or more during the past 10 years (2000-2010).

In 2009, individual events included one in which 50,000 birds died from avian botulism in Utah; 20,000 from the same disease in Idaho; and 10,000 bird deaths in Washington from a harmful algal bloom.

Mass mortality events occur in other animal populations as well, according to the USGS NWHC. For example, prairie dog colonies in the West can be destroyed by sylvatic plague, which can then kill off the highly endangered black-footed ferret that preys on prairie dogs exclusively.

The USGS NWHC is involved with developing vaccines, delivered through bait, which can immunize prairie dogs against plague.

In the 1970s and 1980s, most USGS NWHC die-off investigations involved large numbers of waterfowl deaths from avian cholera, avian botulism, and lead poisoning; in the 1990s, the USGS NWHC was highly involved in investigating the emergence of West Nile virus in North America.

In 2008, the USGS NWHC discovered the cause of white-nose syndrome, a fungal disease that has devastated cave hibernating bat species in the Northeastern U.S."

Just say what is happening. You don't need to post an article on it.

Yes, have your laugh...but it's actually not as crazy as it sounds.

After six weeks of darkness unbroken by so much as a single ray of golden sunlight, global warming threw a monkey into the wrench of tradition in Ilulissat, Greenland.

Beginning December 22 (the day after the date of winter solstice) Greenlanders look forward with steadily building anticipation to January 13 when the first rays of sunshine have historically come to spend a few minutes in their company.

Imagine their astonishment this year when, at approximately noon January 11, a full two days early, a few feeble photons illuminated the unsuspecting denizens of daytime darkness. Never mind that celebrations of the return of the big guy in the golden chariot were now going to be two days late… ignore the humiliation of politicians welcoming the first light two days after it arrived… forget that building excitement short-circuited is the let-down of the ages… the true issue is: how did this happen?

Has axial precession taken a sudden lurch eastward? Was the Earth’s crust swollen by the heat of global warming, raising the Greenlanders above the horizon? Did the earth’s magnetic field wander afield and move the planet’s axis center-ward? Did the peripatetic wanderings of the Earth’s continents reach a tipping point, and suddenly leave too much mass on one side of the planet, causing irregularity in its rotation? No, none of those things happened.

However, in a different way global warming does appear to be the culprit (but it didn’t expand the Earth’s crust; it’s the oceans that expand in the presence of heat, not the crust). What it did do was to raise Greenland’s mean temperature by three degrees centigrade (aka Celsius).

The upshot has been a melting of its glaciers severe enough that sunlight generally blocked from the western half of Greenland until January 13 can now reach those previously darkened climes two days earlier.

If the OP happened to read the articles further than their titles maybe he'd happen to realize how they are not related or unexplained...

well you have to realise that these articles in particular have no clear definitive explanation only likely causes. You also have to be careful that you aren't just being spoon fed what they want you to believe.

I'd also like to point out that a disease causing birds to die all at the same time is very unlikely. A disease needs time to infect, and isn't instantaneous.

I discovered that the remainder of my turkish delight had disappeared last night. I thought my sister's eating it would be a likely cause, but I had no absolute proof. Hence I deduced there is a turkish delight consuming ghoul in my house, so I ate a tub of salt to protect myself.

The birds died from hail. The article I read says the cause of death was trauma from a blunt object, maybe my wording is off but it sounds like they were hit by a hail storm high in the air that melted before it reached the ground.
