      n00b workbook

Not sure what I should put here.. But some dreamsigns are beaches, school, and I've been getting some FAs lately.

      Technique
-Mostly just awareness and a mantra at night. Occasionally a WBTB attempt.

      Goals
      -Signature

      Recall
      -Very good but hazy

      Hey n00b! Welcome to DVA

You know, recurring FA's are an excellent chance to attain lucidity. Just remember to do those reality checks upon waking up. Whether in the morning or if you wake up on and off during the night. My best LD's have been through a successful identification of a FA while I was having said FA.

Feel free to take a look at my workbook if you're not sure what to post. It's linked in my signature and also the Intro Class subforum.

I saw your goal. You might try the Summoning Tutorial and Dream Control Tutorial. I think both might help with your goals.

As Ophelia said, FAs are amazing. My most vivid lucid dreams were ones triggered by realising a false awakening and it's one of the easiest ways to become lucid, in my opinion. Just need to remember to reality check each time you wake up!
Check out my DreamViews Podcast with OpheliaBlue!

The best reason for having dreams is that in dreams no reasons are necessary.

No sailor controls the sea. Only a foolish sailor would say such a thing. Similarly, no lucid dreamer controls the dream.
Like a sailor on the sea, we lucid dreamers direct our perceptual awareness within the larger state of dreaming.

Thanks for all the replies! I will be starting RCs when I wake up, and my dream control is pretty good except my lucid count is not so that's what I will be working on the most

Hey n00b. Have you had any FAs recently? How's the quest for lucidity going? How's your awareness? Any interesting dreams?

No FAs recently, those normally happened when I was going to school. Since it's summer I've lost a bit of awareness, but I'm doing my best to get it back up, will be trying a WILD WBTB tonight. And yes I have an interest in my dreams, they're so weird it's cool. Why do people refer to me as a n00b?

      Hm, I wonder.

Your awareness decreased after school ended? I'm a bit surprised. I know a lot of people look forward to breaks from school to focus more on LDing.
I asked if you had interesting dreams lately, not if you had an interest in dreams. Of course you are interested in dreams, you wouldn't be here otherwise. I figured that I would ask about your recent dreams, since I haven't seen any recent DJ entries from you.

Hope your WBTB/WILD was successful last night.

Oh I just write them in my RL DJ. And my wbtb failed as my alarm was loud as crap, yet did not wake me up but I believe I got SP when I woke up, but nothing happened :\. Will try again tonight. And on breaks I just forget to do a lot of RCs.

edit - also I had a partial lucid last night, I asked my history teacher if we were dreaming and he told me no but in the back of my head I knew we were

      Haha nice. You > teacher.

You should post the dream in your journal. Often I hear little bits and pieces of students' dreams, but I like to read the whole thing.

That's great, n00b! If only you had decided to take control. That's progress though, and that's always encouraging. Did anything tip you off that you were dreaming? How did you realize it?

Well it's sort of inappropriate but I had my thing out and it was on the projector , and also I cannot wake up from alarms any more, I had it full volume, yet it did not wake me up, or it did but I didn't remember, which I would of. And Ophelia soon enough I'll put my dreams in there, I have to write them right away or else I forget them, only to remember them when I cannot write them down, my life, is a sad one indeed

      Ahahahahaha, that's a big hint then, yeah. I wouldn't say it's inappropriate though. It's just a dream.

n00b, I'm pretty similar with alarms. I sleep like a rock. I set my phone to go off a bunch of times, and that tends to work. However, I like to experiment with how my phone will affect my dreams. I had my phone on vibrate once, and when it was vibrating, there was an earthquake in my dream. Other times it'll feel like my dream reset. Some of the events will be exactly the same, some will be different. Sometimes that helps me be more aware in the dream. As a heavy sleeper, I find the effect my phone alarm has in my dreams to be interesting. Though the repeat of events and the differing conclusions can be confusing.

Sounds cool I will try that, I had like 4 or 5 dreams last night and my alarm finally woke me up but I was too distracted by the loud noise to attempt a WILD... I will try just putting it on vibrate random times throughout the night

had a lucid last night, only lasted like 4 seconds. My finger went through my hand so I tried my other hand and it didn't and for some reason my nose was clogged up so I couldn't even press down on it to breath out, lost lucidity after that

Good job, n00b! I guess it was a DILD? It's been less than a week since your semi-LD, that shows significant progress. Unfortunate that you lost lucidity, but I'm sure if you keep working hard, you'll get another LD within the week!

Yes It was a DILD, and I tried the vibrate thing, that might have been it but when I woke up, my phone was dead so I'm not entirely sure. Tomorrow night I'll try a WILD wbtb, and I hope I get 1 this week

Congrats on the DILD n00b! Like Caenis said, it's progress from the last one that was a semi-lucid. And quick progress too!

Keep doing what you're doing, because it's working! And good luck on the next WBTB

edit - my alarm failed to wake me again, I will try making it full volume and changing it to the alarm that scares me awake ( the default iphone one)

Time to actually put something in my workbook, I have *been practicing awareness a lot recently, probably around 30 mins total over the span of a day (yesterday) and maybe like 20 minutes today. I often get that "hey become aware now" thought in my head, but it's very hard to keep up the full awareness for me, any tips on that or is it just practice practice practice?

Well practice definitely has alot to do with it. Also self discipline. We have alot of distractions throughout the hustle and bustle of the day, but the longer you focus on it, the more regular it will become.

I personally look at the clock alot (probably more than the average bear I'd say), so I make myself increase awareness whenever I look at it. Maybe something like that would help you too, although 20-30 minutes a day is really good in my opinion!
