Hyper-realistic false awakening. I'm trying to fall asleep and Wife shakes me, complaining that she had a dream where she was "in the bedroom but it looked different." I explain that she was just having a "false awakening." I recommend that she always reality check upon waking up. She asks me whether I do that myself. I nod gravely, assuring that I of course always try to RC when I wake up. "Otherwise I could miss a chance to have a lucid dream." She asks me to show her some reality check examples. I verbally explain nose pinch and finger-through-palm before going off on a lecture about REM sleep, WBTB, and the activation of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex.
Then I wake up for real, feeling like the stupidest man alive.

Good question. If I had to name my favorite basic path for achieving LD, it'd be writing down your intentions in your dream journal, then imagining your lucid dreams as you drift off to sleep. Then, perform your favorite induction technique in conjunction with a Wake Back to Bed (WBTB). Let me hit you up in your workbook for a little more.
