      TruMotion's Workbook

Hi, my name is John, welcome to my workbook
I have been on DV for 1 year. Although I have had a few lucid dreams, none of them was long or lucid enough for me to enjoy them. I hope this class helps me with that

      Reality Checks:
      -Analyzing hands
      -Pinching nose

      Dream Signs:
      -Inês, a classmate
      -Town's square

      Short-Term Goals:
      -Stabilize
      -Fly

      Long-Term Goals:
      -Find my dream guide
-Complete both Tasks of the month

      Lucid/Dream Recall History:
-I recall at least 1 dream every night.
-Had 5 LDs in the first year, and another 2 in the last 2 weeks.

      Current Technique:
      -WBTB
      -MILD

Hey John! Welcome to the Intro Class!

I'm looking forward to reading about your experiences, as I've read some of your posts in the forums. See ya around, and good luck

Last night went to bed at midnight but only managed to fall asleep around 1:10. Woke up at 5:50 to WBTB, but couldn't fall asleep again.
Recalled one full dream. All of it was about lucid dreaming, makes so mad that I didn't realize!

I know I hate that too haha!

But it's good that you have the subject of lucid dreaming so much in your mind, that you're dreaming about it. That's just another step closer to lucidity. I have dreams like that alot before having an actual lucid.

Me too! That happened before most of my lucids. Hope I have one soon

Have been in a dry spell for the last few days, couldn't recall a thing. Today woke up and recalled 4 dreams, so I guess the dry spell is broken.

      Finally another LD
I tried to stabilize, which was my short-term objective, but I wasn't really focused on it, I just automatically touched my hair and a wall. The dream didn't really stabilize.
I still have no dream control whatsoever, and I'm always very tired. When I wake up it's like I wasn't even lucid, it's like I was dreaming that I was lucid. Is this a matter of stabilization, or practice?

Congratulations!! And as for your question, I think it's both. You can definitely learn to stabilize more efficiently with practice. Try to keep reminding yourself before bed what you aim to do, and sooner or later, it will creep into your subconscious and it will be easier to remember once you're lucid. Took me a while to learn to stabilize too. Autosuggestion and positive reinforcement work really well :3

      Good luck! Keep it up

Woke up from another LD last night. Someone said something about dreams, I reality checked, but the dream was so vivid I almost didn't believe it was a dream in the first couple of seconds. I tried to stabilize by rubbing my hands on a wall for a few seconds. But as soon as stopped stabilizing the dream either turned into a non-lucid or I woke up.

Yay! Good job on getting lucid with the reality check. I find that when I have an irritating time with stabilization in an LD, it's time to move on to a task of some sort. I feel like sometimes I waste too much energy focusing on stabilization, that it wears me out and I wake up or go non lucid. I remember every night to have a "to-do" list of sorts in case I have a random DILD. My list usually includes a TOTM, and maybe one or 2 personal goals, not a long list. I find alot of times having something to do distracts my subconscious enough from tripping me up, and lengthens the dream.

Thanks! The thing is when I get lucid I can't think, I just do random stuff. I actually am surprised that I remembered to stabilize in my last LD's, although it wasn't a thing I thought of doing, I just did it automatically.
I'll try to fly in my next LD's then, using mantras or smth. thank you

One more lucid. Was so happy when I woke up from it, because it was really unexpected.
Still tried to stabilize for a couple seconds by rubbing my hands at my clothes. I was at my house and everything was dark. I tried to turn some lights on but only a couple did. So I tried to set my lamp on fire, but only two rays of light came out of my hands. Still pretty awesome though.

Hi again. I just want to share with anyone that reads this an unusual thing that I experienced last night. So, I was in my bed listening to music, and was about to fall asleep. I usually imagine stuff before falling asleep, like daydreaming, but this time it was extremelly vivid. And this happened more than once. One of the times, I imagined I was sitting in class, and some dude was giving papers to everyone, and I thought: "What the hell is he doing? We're not even in class anymore... wait, I'm laying my bed". After that I 'woke' up. When I was about to fall asleep again, this happened again but this time I imagined I stepped on an iron nail and literally jumped out of my bed. Has this ever happened to you?

Hey TruMotion! That's pretty cool. Some interesting stuff happens on the border between wakefulness and sleep. It sounds like very strong hypnagogic imagery to me.

I have had hypnagogic imagery but nothing quite as strong as what you describe. Someone with a bit more WILDing experience might be able to tell you how to turn this to your advantage. However, I wonder if you could take advantage of DEILD (a sort of mini-WILD.) In a DEILD, you wake up but try to stay as calm as possible while placing yourself back into the dream you just left. If you manage to stay calm and keep your eyes closed, you may be able to re-enter this scene fully lucid. I've done this before to chain lucid dreams together and I wonder whether it might apply to your strong hypnagogic imagery.

Here are a couple of great DEILD tutorials:
      http://www.dreamviews.com/f49/yuppie...-dream-126343/
      http://www.dreamviews.com/f49/dutchr...ld-god-134760/

If you get this sensation again, I'd advise trying to stay relaxed, move as little as possible, keep your eyes closed and re-enter via DEILD. Cool stuff! Let us know if you have any more experiences with this.

No, the thing is this wasn't a dream... DEILD can only be done after a few hours of sleep.
But you are right, definitely a lot of interesting stuff happens on the border between wakefulness and sleep (:

Good point. If this was the beginning of your sleep, it seems unlikely that you were entering REM directly. A sleep-deprived person can sometimes slip straight into REM, but this doesn't sound like you. Polyphasic sleep practitioners are doing this at every single nap but they're coasting on REM rebound for all of their sleep.

On the other hand, the fact that your hypnagogic imagery was so vivid is really intriguing to me. I only get hypnagogic imagery of any noticeable strength after my WBTB (close to an REM phase) so I'm a little jealous.

Anyway, interesting stuff. Let us know how your future experimentation with this imagery goes!

Heads up: It's almost October! I suggest making a new list of monthly goals you want to achieve, as well as reevaluate your DJ for possible new dream signs or any realizations

I don't know if you have heard about this, but if it is recall you are having trouble with it, try a day time journal. Mastermind started a great thread about it here. It has been known to trigger lucidity as well. It works really well for me. There are probably similar threads out there.

I've actually tried that for a few days, I wasn't having trouble recalling dreams though. I can give it another try...

Oh I see. Well maybe give it a little longer and focus on remembering as much as you can. I know it can be a pain but it has helped a lot of people. I found myself focusing on remember the moment in a dream because of it and it made me more aware. I think it just heightens awareness. Everyone is different though.

Well, I started with the day-journaling the day before yesterday. Had no success in that night, but last night I recalled 3 full dreams, so I guess it may start to have some effect.
