RareCola pretty much said it all very well. Setting some goals, even really simple ones like fly, or talk to a DC can be very helpful and motivating. It really gives you something to look forward to, rather than just hoping to have a lucid dream. It can also give you something to do once you get lucid, and that way, you don't waste precious lucid moments panicking about what to do

And I agree, you should definitely try out WBTB!
