I am grateful for any advice from both experienced lucid dreamers and from fellow novices! Be bold and share with me whatever is on your mind!
Reality Checks:
- Nose plug. I like to keep doing that even after it has proven successful, feels weird and nice to breathe when it shouldn't be possible. Like the opposite of drowning
Dream Signs:
- Trains and train tracks in all variations
- One particular girl I know (but have almost no connection to in waking life)
- Small rivers (?)
Short-Term Goals:
- Become lucid !!!
- Improve dream recall in quality and quantity (consistent 5+ per night)
- Learn, enjoy and have fun in the newly discovered inner dimension of dreaming and on DV
- Find an appropriate induction technique and do homework for DVA
Long-Term Goals:
- Spiritual growth and to get to know myself deeply
- Regular LD's and LD's at will
- Complete dream recall
- Have unlimited fun and dream sex. Make friends with and explore the DC-version of my friends
- Challenge my imagination and get nice surprises
Lucid/Dream Recall History:
At this point I can recall 2+ dream scenes per night on average. But it varies very much, i think this is due to unregulated sleep patterns. I had a handful LD's already, but those were merely random DILDs, induced by my awareness to weird circumstances. So I used RCs as a confirmation only. In my latest LD I managed to stabilize the dream and to explore how the dream senses feel. And I also went to fly (mkay I admit it was more like 'swimming' 10 m into the air, but it was still awesome )
Current Technique:
- DILD + WBTB
Not sure about this one yet. I was reading on ADA/DILD, but I also find MILD interesting. Maybe this can all be combined, but maybe going too much tryhard on all the ILDs may complicate things more than desired... My attempts on WBTB were fail so far, but I'll stick to that and improve (!)
Notes and log book:
Spoiler for June:
Spoiler for Log June 23:
Trying to adjust sleep cycle to normal. Went to sleep at 7 pm (really tired and in need of recovery), attempted WBTB at 1 am but awoke naturally at 00:30. Failed the 'back to bed part', can't sleep :-/
ZERO dream recall, even after lying still for 10 min (wow this is discouraging, had always at least SOME recall for the last 20 days). Was looking forward to do the first entry in my DVA DJ...
Need to adjust sleep cycle
Spoiler for Log June 24:
Going to bed at 8 pm (still really early for me). I plan WBTB at 00:00, awake from the alarm but go back to sleep instantly (like 3-5 min later, really tired/not motivated to get awake). I wake up naturally at 2:30 am, recalling 1 fragment and write down some key words, go to pee and drink water and back to bed. I wake up at 5 am, recalling 1 fragment where I dreamed about being in a LD, where I tried to convince a DC that it was indeed a dream. Although i did not really get lucid it showed me that LDs are still active in my subconscious, feeling that I'm close to having one .
+ WTF HOW CAN I NOT GET LUCID IN A SITUATION WHERE I TRY TO CONVINCE SOMEONE THAT IT IS A DREAM LOL (was I trying to convince myself?!)
Spoiler for Log June 25:
Falling asleep at 10 PM, wake up at 4:30 am. Recalling 3 fragments, one is quite detailed. Somehow they seem like belonging together to one big dream, although they are independent situations. First unpleasant recall in a really long while.
Fell asleep at 8:30 pm. Woke up naturally at 2:30 am, recalling 3 fragments and writing down keywords, then I went back to sleep. Woke up at 6:30 am, recalling 2 more dream scenes. Good ~10 h sleep, I feel very fresh and recovered That was much needed sleep, I think my sleep schedule is back in order now. Fruitful 7 pages in my personal DJ, but I don't have time/energy to type it into the DV-DJ today, having exams in two days.
Spoiler for Log June 27:
Fell asleep at 11 pm, woke up naturally at 4 am, recalling 4 scenes and writing keywords, then I went back to sleep. Woke up at 7:30 am, recalling 2 more scenes, leading to 4 pages in my personal DJ in total. I sense an enormous boost and enrichment of my dreamworld. This is exciting, planning to make a better effort for my DV-DJ + DVA homework once I am done with exams, which will be after tomorrow.
Spoiler for Log July 05:
Had a few days break from dreaming because of cannabis. Have returned to my DJ and I'm writing down dreams again, so today there were 3 fragments. Also, today begins the competition by Checker666, so I'm excited and will give it my best.
3 fragments and 2 dreams. Had an unscheduled WBTB before the last dream and it made it very vivid. I should do more WBTB. Also, I did some MILD exercise during the waking phase and imagined how the previous nightmare would have turned out if I had been lucid. Yeah the nightmare, haven't had one of those in a long time. But somehow I appreciate the vividness and awareness that comes with the fear. But it made me miss one of my dream signs due to distraction by fear.
Dream recall can still be improved, but I'm already proud of where it is at right now. Couldn't even imagine so much dream recall before I started to do my DJ.
MILD+WBTB seems very interesting and I decided that I'll try that for a while. I have holidays and a lot of time and willingness to make an effort, I believe that it will work out great for me.
The competition 13 in 'DVA general lucid dreaming' is a nice encouraging help.
Performed a WBTB last night. Got one pleasant dream before WBTB and a fragment about DV afterwards. I know there's a lot more than I can remember, anyways:
Day routine: Was stopping and practicing awareness several times during the day. Did the RWI-technique with the mantra "I realize that I am dreaming and I remember my dreams" in my three languages (English, Danish, German), filled 1 page.
Bed-time routine: physical relaxation practice + meditation, read 2 old DJ entries, attempted some WILD-affirmations and visualizations, but was too tired at this point already.
