I am grateful for any advice from both experienced lucid dreamers and from fellow novices! Be bold and share with me whatever is on your mind!
Reality Checks:
- Nose plug. I like to keep doing that even after it has proven successful, feels weird and nice to breathe when it shouldn't be possible. Like the opposite of drowning
Dream Signs:
- Trains and train tracks in all variations
- One particular girl I know (but have almost no connection to in waking life)
- Small rivers (?)
Short-Term Goals:
- Become lucid !!!
- Improve dream recall in quality and quantity (consistent 5+ per night)
- Learn, enjoy and have fun in the newly discovered inner dimension of dreaming and on DV
- Find an appropriate induction technique and do homework for DVA
Long-Term Goals:
- Spiritual growth and to get to know myself deeply
- Regular LD's and LD's at will
- Complete dream recall
- Have unlimited fun and dream sex. Make friends with and explore the DC-version of my friends
- Challenge my imagination and get nice surprises
Lucid/Dream Recall History:
At this point I can recall 2+ dream scenes per night on average. But it varies very much, i think this is due to unregulated sleep patterns. I had a handful LD's already, but those were merely random DILDs, induced by my awareness to weird circumstances. So I used RCs as a confirmation only. In my latest LD I managed to stabilize the dream and to explore how the dream senses feel. And I also went to fly (mkay I admit it was more like 'swimming' 10 m into the air, but it was still awesome )
Current Technique:
- DILD + WBTB
Not sure about this one yet. I was reading on ADA/DILD, but I also find MILD interesting. Maybe this can all be combined, but maybe going too much tryhard on all the ILDs may complicate things more than desired... My attempts on WBTB were fail so far, but I'll stick to that and improve (!)
Notes and log book:
Spoiler for June:
Spoiler for Log June 23:
Trying to adjust sleep cycle to normal. Went to sleep at 7 pm (really tired and in need of recovery), attempted WBTB at 1 am but awoke naturally at 00:30. Failed the 'back to bed part', can't sleep :-/
ZERO dream recall, even after lying still for 10 min (wow this is discouraging, had always at least SOME recall for the last 20 days). Was looking forward to do the first entry in my DVA DJ...
Need to adjust sleep cycle
Spoiler for Log June 24:
Going to bed at 8 pm (still really early for me). I plan WBTB at 00:00, awake from the alarm but go back to sleep instantly (like 3-5 min later, really tired/not motivated to get awake). I wake up naturally at 2:30 am, recalling 1 fragment and write down some key words, go to pee and drink water and back to bed. I wake up at 5 am, recalling 1 fragment where I dreamed about being in a LD, where I tried to convince a DC that it was indeed a dream. Although i did not really get lucid it showed me that LDs are still active in my subconscious, feeling that I'm close to having one .
+ WTF HOW CAN I NOT GET LUCID IN A SITUATION WHERE I TRY TO CONVINCE SOMEONE THAT IT IS A DREAM LOL (was I trying to convince myself?!)
Spoiler for Log June 25:
Falling asleep at 10 PM, wake up at 4:30 am. Recalling 3 fragments, one is quite detailed. Somehow they seem like belonging together to one big dream, although they are independent situations. First unpleasant recall in a really long while.
Fell asleep at 8:30 pm. Woke up naturally at 2:30 am, recalling 3 fragments and writing down keywords, then I went back to sleep. Woke up at 6:30 am, recalling 2 more dream scenes. Good ~10 h sleep, I feel very fresh and recovered That was much needed sleep, I think my sleep schedule is back in order now. Fruitful 7 pages in my personal DJ, but I don't have time/energy to type it into the DV-DJ today, having exams in two days.
Spoiler for Log June 27:
Fell asleep at 11 pm, woke up naturally at 4 am, recalling 4 scenes and writing keywords, then I went back to sleep. Woke up at 7:30 am, recalling 2 more scenes, leading to 4 pages in my personal DJ in total. I sense an enormous boost and enrichment of my dreamworld. This is exciting, planning to make a better effort for my DV-DJ + DVA homework once I am done with exams, which will be after tomorrow.
Spoiler for Log July 05:
Had a few days break from dreaming because of cannabis. Have returned to my DJ and I'm writing down dreams again, so today there were 3 fragments. Also, today begins the competition by Checker666, so I'm excited and will give it my best.
3 fragments and 2 dreams. Had an unscheduled WBTB before the last dream and it made it very vivid. I should do more WBTB. Also, I did some MILD exercise during the waking phase and imagined how the previous nightmare would have turned out if I had been lucid. Yeah the nightmare, haven't had one of those in a long time. But somehow I appreciate the vividness and awareness that comes with the fear. But it made me miss one of my dream signs due to distraction by fear.
Dream recall can still be improved, but I'm already proud of where it is at right now. Couldn't even imagine so much dream recall before I started to do my DJ.
MILD+WBTB seems very interesting and I decided that I'll try that for a while. I have holidays and a lot of time and willingness to make an effort, I believe that it will work out great for me.
The competition 13 in 'DVA general lucid dreaming' is a nice encouraging help.
Performed a WBTB last night. Got one pleasant dream before WBTB and a fragment about DV afterwards. I know there's a lot more than I can remember, anyways:
Day routine: Was stopping and practicing awareness several times during the day. Did the RWI-technique with the mantra "I realize that I am dreaming and I remember my dreams" in my three languages (English, Danish, German), filled 1 page.
Bed-time routine: physical relaxation practice + meditation, read 2 old DJ entries, attempted some WILD-affirmations and visualizations, but was too tired at this point already.

Reason: log book entry
It's been a while since I created this workbook, so now that I have holidays and found a good combination of induction techniques that I like, I decided I'll continue the workbook and do the homework as I initially planned.
I haven't been doing nothing, though; in fact I've been doing my personal DJ and some DV-DJ along with it. The entries are linked in the log book in the first post. I'm pretty proud of my progress in dream recall, it is better than I would have imagined to be possible a few weeks ago. So now it's time for the LD induction !
I currently put efforts in MILD+WBTB and this as a supplement: Repetition of Writing Induction Technique - by LogicInLife
In my waking routine I train my prospective memory, with the common technique, where you question reality (and allow awareness) each time you encounter a specific circumstance, which is previously defined and changing each day. Here I still lack discipline and consistency, but I am confident that I'll improve.
Also, I am in the DVA competition by Checker666, which I find very motivating. I am overall very confident that I will have some LDs soon, if I stick to consistent effort now. And I heard that is a nice prerequisite for MILD in general.
Lesson I
Spoiler for Homework Lesson I:
1. Start your own workbook thread in this subforum (here)
2. Start a Dream Journal and record each dream.
3. Record the times that you naturally go to bed and wake-up, and list it in your workbook.
4. Do reality checks whenever you experience something weird throughout the day, and list it in your workbook.
5. Write a list for why you want to lucid dream (for motivation), and plan out what you want to do in your next lucid dream.
6. Establish a night-time routine (Include reading your dream journal, making sure to leave your DJ open to a blank page for quicker dictations).
Optional:
7. Start a DreamViews Dream Journal (here).
8. Start posting snippets from your dreams in the Dream Snippets Thread to get feedback on your dreams!
9. Start practicing awareness from Lesson III
10. If you notice any recurring elements in your dream journal (aka dream signs), list it in your workbook.
1 & 2: Check
3: I have not put too much attention to this one yet. All I can say is: it varies. But if I want to do dedicated WBTB, I gotta keep track of my sleep cycles. I'll do this in more detail in the future and list it here or maybe just in the log book in the first post.
4: This is part of my current prospective memory training. Perhaps one of the most challenging parts for me at the moment.
5: The main reasons are mentioned in the first post and they are still valid. Additionally I have some new exciting motivations:
- Get a nice score in the DVA competition by Checker666 for both me and my teammate
- Meet my teammate in the dream and do the stuff with her that will give points for the team tasks: 1. meet her (think I'll try to summon her), 2. exchange pocket contents, 3. help her to do some dream control task, 4. explore the dreamworld together, 5. fight her (I'm gonna win), 6. Ask her to demonstrate her powers
- Complete the tree step task, which I have chosen for myself in the competition in the right order: 1. fly, 2. eat something, 3. teleport
6. I have been doing this naturally all the time. Keeping the DJ ready for keywords is a great help for me. I am thankful for every entry in my DJ, they show me a vast region of my subconscious, which I would otherwise not be aware of. I also like reading in the DV-DJ of other members every now and then. As a new night-time routine, I do some MILD affirmations, but this is not challenging, I gladly do it.
7 & 8: Check & mkay
9: This is also part of my prospective memory training, so yes I do that at the moment. I am also practicing meditation regularly, not just for LDing, but also for me in general.
10: Currently there are these recurring elements: 1. trains and train tracks in all variations, 2. my grandmother and her house, 3. smoking joints and cigarettes, largely in combination with friends at partys.
To do list
- read Naiya's guides on LD and MILD
- pay attention to sleep cycles and durations, list it here
- get disciplined with prospective memory training
- do the RWI-technique mentioned earlier
- remember linking my DV-DJ entries in dream snippets as daily routine
- do lesson II-IV
- ah yea... get lucid !!!
I am confident that I'm in good shape. I don't really think that I need help, but still, any comments or suggestions are appreciated !

Looking great, Nelzi! I actually agree that you are exactly on the right track. Good record-keeping, good technique choices. The one thing that we can and will do is just be here to support you as needed and bear witness to your success!
Keep us updated on how you do and any questions that arise. And good luck in the competition! Looks like a lot of fun.
During summer holidays, I had two weeks where I completely abandoned dreaming and my personal DJ. Funny that I had 3 LDs in that period, where I did not care about getting lucid. The lucids were short ones (~3 min each), but very cool with some funny false awakenings. I can now see how important it is to do a RC, once I wake up!
I am, once again, astonished by how vivid and real everything appears in a LD! I would even go as far as saying that things - and especially people and their eyes - appear more 'real' (or at least more rich with details) and very beautiful in my dreams.
I like interacting with my DCs. I noticed that they are all uncomplicated and happy and look very good. Knowing that they are a mirror of myself and how I see the world, they are to me a very satisfying picture of myself and my world/life.

Welcome back, Nelzi! It's great to have you back here!
I love that the lucids were still coming to you even when you weren't actively seeking them out. I agree with you about how real and vivid these self-created worlds can be. No matter how many of these I have, I'm always surprised by what the experience is really like. I hang on to the memories as tightly as I can, but it's hard to really internalize just how striking and almost hyper-realistic dreams often are.
It's also nice that your dreamworlds are occupied by relaxed, good-looking, happy people. Keep us up to date on your coming journeys back to the dreamworld!
Often, when I wake up, I find myself not remembering any dreams whatsoever, just like this morning. At first I am always disappointed by the unfruitful night, but then, when I just relax and do nothing for 5-10 minutes, I suddenly get flashes of huge chunks of dream experiences. And then I'm like 'how could I forget that?!'. The more I relax and not try to force it, the more details come into my memory. I know that this is very common, but now I can tell from my own experience.
So last night turned out to be fruitful nevertheless: The Trumpet Bong
My recall is still very good, even after abandoning practicing it for a while. It is still improving slowly, but steadily.
I currently use the MILD-mantra 'I realize that I'm dreaming and I remember my dreams'. Now I have extended it by also using it in my two other languages German and Danish. When I am completely relaxed, I speak it slowly in my mind and contemplate it's meaning, while I imagine the feeling of becoming lucid in a dream. I believe that extending it to the three languages I know may somehow be beneficial, as it integrates not only my 'English speaking personality', but also my 'German and Danish personality', if there is such a thing .
