      CosmicVision's Workbook (Intro Course)

Hello everyone! I am a 19-year old male. I've known about lucid dreaming for a long time, but I've never been consistent for very long and I've never had one. In my first year of college, my dream recall was very low, so I'm pretty much starting from scratch. I hope keeping a workbook will give me some accountability. Here is my plan:

      Reality Checks:
      - Pushing finger through palm. I plan on doing this whenever I walk through a door, or see something out of the ordinary.

      Dream Signs:
      - Escalators, particularly when there's a lot of them clustered in one room.
      - Elevators
      - Public Restrooms. In regular dreams, they are painted white and very minimalist. In nightmares, they are filthy (rust, toilets overflowing, etc.)

      Short-Term Goals:
      - Dream recall to one solid dream per night.
      - Have a lucid dream.

      Long-Term Goals:
      - Master the four elements (huge Avatar fanboy right here)
      - Improve my real-life confidence and social skills.
      - Perform the tasks of the month regularly.

      Lucid/Dream Recall History:
      - I have gotten suspicions that I was dreaming in the past, but I was always too slow to react and wake up instantly.

      Current Technique:
      - WBTB six hours after I go to bed, go to the bathroom, and go back to bed. I will think about lucid dreaming the whole time I'm awake.
      - If I wake up in the middle of the night without an alarm, I'll attempt FILD.
      - Going to hold off on the WILDs for a while and start off with something simpler.

Generally, I go to bed around 11:30 and wake up around 7:30. Before I go to bed, I will set my alarm for six hours from the current time. I will have my dream journal and a pen near my bed at all times.

I will be also be updating my DJ on Dreamviews, and will post here every morning.

Hope to make some friends here!

      Night 1

I set my alarm for 6 hours after I went to bed. When I woke up, I felt a little too alert and awake. I didn't get out of bed this time since I was already fully awake and needed to get back to sleep. I was finding it uncomfortable to sleep on my back though, so I stayed awake for at least an hour. I only had dream, and it was stupid and unsatisfying. I posted it in my dream journal.

Tomorrow night, I'm going to set my alarm for 5.5 hours instead of 6 hours. Maybe I will find it easier to go to sleep that way.

Also, I posted a dream I had about a week ago in my DJ. This was non-lucid, but very emotional and memorable, and I think Dreamviews would find it interesting.

I haven't had much luck with dream recall recently because there were a couple days I had to get up really early, so my sleep schedule is messed up. I tried WBTB a couple times and 5.5 hours seems to be a much better time frame. I didn't stay up long enough though because I thought I had more awareness than I actually did, and I fell asleep really fast.

I'm gonna try to be more consistent with posting here regularly.

Well not much has really changed. I've remembered a few dream fragments not really worth remembering, but I did remember a couple vaguely interesting dreams tonight. I haven't been trying WBTB recently, so I'm going to try that again tonight.

I tried to WBTB last, but my alarm failed to go off. I did have a slightly more meaningful dream this night though.

The bad news is I can't get my computer alarm to go off and I don't have another one atm. The good news is I had 4 dreams last night. 2 of them were fragments, but I believe 4 is a new record for me.

Do you have natural wakes? You can use one of those for wbtb even if your alarm's not working. The other option is to drink a bit of water before bed, which will also wake you up at some point.

I haven't had access to a computer since my last post, so I'm back now. Unfortunately, my dream recall is currently non-existent. I'll start working on that again.

As for natural wakes, not recently, although I used to have a lot in the past. My sleep schedule doesn't seem to be very consistent atm.

An alternative is to drink a good bit of water before bed. If you get the right amount, you'll wake up after 4-6 hours to answer the call of nature.

If you find yourself waking up too early or too late, you can try adjusting the amount of water you drink before bed.

In any case, looking forward to hearing how you do!
