      Sleep paralysis?

I doubt that it is, but last night i decided to install the brainhack app on my itouch and play the lucid dreaming binaural beats while i slept. I noticed while i was nearing sleep that my arms seemed to go numb if i kept them still for around 10 minutes, no matter how i held them. I did a reality check by pinching myself and it hurt. In the end I couldn't sleep because some roommates decided to bother me. Now my arms hurt, like when you wake up and you cant make a fist, but only more painful. Is this sleep paralysis, and if not what is it?

I doubt it. Sleep paralysis is when your body goes to sleep before you do. You can't move and you experience HI. It only lasts 0-2 minutes usually. I don't how this has anything to do with your arms hurting unless you had them in an uncomfortable position.

It was weird though. I could feel what my arm was touching but only barely. Otherwise I felt as if I had no arms. And it wasn't numb, because I know how blocking blood to your arms feels. It just slowly dissapeared.

Also while I have the topic, do you know of good ways of falling asleep faster? Insomnia isn't going to help anyone have lucid dreams.

I doubt it was paralysis as well. Were you trying to sleep in an unfamiliar position? Could it have been from something you did the day or few days before? I don't know what else to tell you. I'd lay off the binaural beats for a day or two and then try it again to see if that's the problem.

As far as falling asleep faster, unfortunately I can't think of much besides making sure you get good exercise during the day and avoid caffeine in the evening. Well, if you don't already have a steady sleep schedule, making a point to go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day might help, as it trains your body to prepare itself for sleep and waking. I don't know if it would be 100% effective, but it couldn't hurt.

Hmmm. Last night i played basketball and slept a bit earlier to make up for the night before where i didn't sleep that much. Also I didn't listen to the binaural beats. I fell asleep too fast to see if my arms went numb, but i'm guessing they didn't.

Now I need to work on dream recall.

You'll know when you are in it when you can't move. That's why it's called sleep paralysis. I have a tutorial on it in my signature.

What is it exactly that you are trying to achieve? I know lucid dreaming of course, but I don't know much about binaural beats.

I havent been here that long but it sounds like something me and my friends talked about. Our friend Shawn was in the Army and he talked about a torture technique using radio frequencies to make someone's body numb. I think you were doing that. Its also used to make yourself hallucinate.
