How do you train yourself to remember dreams? (I do keep a dream journal)

When I wake up I rarely remember my dreams. Last night, I had a dream that I was in a building with a bunch of warriors that look like they're from Mortal Combat (or something like that) and I had ninja abilities. We were all chained to a wall and fighting to the death. Then, that same night, I was in third person view in a pokemon game and walking through the grass. The thing is I only remember a little bit about those dreams. A lot of people say that before you can start Lucid Dreaming you should try to remember your dreams and write them down (which I do). How can I train myself to remember my dreams and how can I eventually reach Lucid Dreaming? Thank you.

      Welcome to Dreamviews LucidTraceur.

What I find helps a lot is staying still and relaxed as soon as you wake up from a dream. You can move around if you have to, but keep your eyes closed and just focus on remembering what you dreamed about that night. Some people think that since you're still lying down, your brain's still in "dream-mode" so it'll aid in remembering dreams.

Remembering any dream fragments, however small, can work up to remembering three or four dreams a night. You have to write everything down, or at the very least, jot down key points.

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

At bedtime, I ask my spiritual guide to help me waking up after every dream and to help me remember dreams. Then I visualize myself waking up from a dream, remembering the dream and noting the dream in my dream journal.
When I wake up, I sit in my bed to remember dreams or I fall asleep too fast. If you don't remember any dream when you wake up, ask yourself what you were dreaming about and clear your thoughts...Usually some visual will pop-up.
And sometimes, I don't remember any dream right away when I wake up, but by asking myself what I was doing, I can remember up to 3 dreams.

BTW...Grats Puffin for your 1000th post!!!

I will type a little faster, just got booted.
I deal with sleep paralysis and have been doing so for the last two years. I have some questions about my recent dreams. One, is this lucid?: I was swimming in a lake with my wife which is odd because I felt safe and I am a pool swimmer only. We reached the other side and i looked up and realized I was on my childhood farm back fields, no lake there in reality, we stepped on the grass and I could feel the painful feeling of my feet being pricked by the grass, so I decided to have us walk on the water's edge. I do not remember what happened next because I was not keeping a dream journal until last night. The safe feeling of swimming the water with my wife was really nice though.

I had another dream that I wonder was lucid or not. I was at a party and I was enjoying myself and then I realize that I was dreaming. Then the person I was next to runs the stairs at blinding speed and then I look at the ceiling and then elbows and hands, knees make indents on the ceiling crossing the room until it is over me and then come crashing down on me. I fight the force and try to wake up but I am in SP for a moment and it really sucks until I finally wake up.

Dreams are something that I don't want to use as an escape, but would like to make more pleasant so my waking hours are more pleasant as well.

Any feelings about what these seems to be? First post, I appreciate the help if you have any. I will continue to journal, just more gracefully than my first time last night.
