      first experience (doing ok?)

      Hello, i'm new here,
and i'd like to share my experience of trying WILD for the first time

Yesterday, once i was tired, i went to bed, and commenced WILD. After lying motionless for some time, i started to feel the numbness in my legs and arms. It slowly got more intense, and i had views of stars and nebulas from time to time. The feeling of getting closer to dreaming came and went, and after some time.

Then I suddenly started to have REM, my heart started to beat quite fast, but i was still awake After some time it stopped, and my arms felt really heavy (SP i guess). Then the feeling grew stronger again, and i felt as if my bed and i were being turned in different directions, kind of floating in space. When breathing in, my chest felt like it was almost out of my body, it rose more than it should from breathing in. After another calmer period, my ear started to feel weird and i vaguely heard unexisting noises. I kept waiting for some time for a dream to start or something, but nothing came, and the feeling was not so strong anymore (except for my arms that still felt very heavy).

I then decided i'd quit for the night, and changed position (i had to lift my arms for that, and i could, so does that mean no SP?) I really had to convince myself of doing this, my body seemed to feel to comfy to want to move

This was a pretty cool experience, but i was a bit dissapointed that no dream came to step in to. Should i have imagined a scenery, or do you really have to wait for things to come by themselves? Also, the REM thing was weird, and it doesn't seem common?

I feel i'm gonna be on this forum a lot more now that i have decided to try LD ^^

      greets,
      Cosybed

Hey, welcome to the community! I hope you stick around and have a lot of LDs! What you experienced does sound a lot like SP. One question though..did you wake up in the middle of the night to try this, or did you just try it when you went to bed? Usually to be successful in a WILD you have to wake up right before or in the middle of your REM. Your REM is usually about 4-6 hours after you go to bed. You want to wake up then to be able to have a successful WILD during the night. Hope I helped!

      Welcome to Dreamviews Cosybed! :3
That was definitely SP. I've had a few instances where dreams didn't form for me either, which can be a real disappointment after going through all the effort, but I keep trying. I haven't had a successful WILD in a few months so that will sweeten the victory.

      Good luck!
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

      thanks guys ^^

@mancon: i indeed tried it when going to sleep, and not after waking up. I tought it would be less of a hassle not to have to wake up in the middle of the night
so, CAN i actually succeed if i try it this way? or should i really wake up during the night for it? (that's a bit of a problem, because my brother sleeps in the same room, so i can't just set my alarm or something..)

also: If i had SP, that means when having SP you're not litteraly paralysed? (i could still move if i wanted to, i did when i stopped trying to LD). Or is it just different from regular SP's because you're not asleep when commencing WILD?

      Hi Cosybed
I have heard of people getting a WILD before they sleep but it is very rare. A different way of waking up late in the night would be to drink a lot of water before bed and you will wake to go to the bathroom, then you can attempt the WILD after (or a vibrating alarm?). I naturally wake after all my dreams so i'm lucky =P . Then you can also try repeating something before you sleep like "I will wake up during/after my dreams tonight" but you just gotta make your mind do it.

@lucidavenger: The drinking is sure to fail for me, as i have never woken up from having to pee i can even go to bed when i have a high urge of peeing (but i'm too lazy ), and pee the next morning when i'm up..
A vibrating alarm might work yes...I might try that.
and what if i wake up say, at nine, after/during dreaming (that happens often), and then i try WILD? will that work? (because when i wake up at that time, i usually go back to sleep..) I'll probably have had 7-8 hours of sleep then.. or is that too much?

p.s.: Is the REM thing i had common? it was weird because it normally happens the moment you're dreaming, but since i was awake, i was just focused on my eyes moving, and i wasn't having a hint of a dream.

I am not sure about the REM, but 9 should be a great time as the REM periods are longest just before you wake up(After about 7-8 hours). Then the WILD technique takes patience/practice so i cannot say it will work, but yes that's the best time to try and you have to be careful to not fall sleep again and also not be too awake to perform the WILD so it's kind of seeing what is best for you =)

okay, i've been trying some different techniques, without succes. But today, i did have a DILD i think
I was trying to VILD after waking up, fell into a normal dream, where some kind of weird huge yellow bugs kept stinging me. The feeling was strange, and after some more stinging i tought: wait a minute, it feels like SP! The sensation of the stinging bugs reminded me of how sp felt, strangely enough.
Then i got excited because i was lucid and i instantly started to wake up. I had the presence of mind to start swinging my arm, and to turn around (i'd never have guessed i would remember to do this), but i think i also turned my real body around, so i woke up. Or so i thought, because it was actually a false awakening Should have known, when i was looking at my clock, it said 17:26, and i tought "oh, it's 5 AM, i can try to VILD again"
So, I'm happy i noticed i was dreaming, but due to the instant FA, i haven't been able to do anything..
