      Lucid dreaming mentality

      Greetings!

While i have been a member for a while now and have had 3 lucids, I have a small question that i feel best belongs here. After not really RCing or anything for a few months, im getting back in to lucid dreaming. However, while during the day i feel confident and excited about it, while lying in bed i feel nervous, and remember reading about bad experiences and such. In short, have any of you ever had this and how did you deal with it?

I've had a large amount of bad experiences with lucid dreams, including pain during SP, having lucid nightmares, and having dreams that I'm WILDing with scary SP. I just have to remind myself that it's not real.

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I guess for me, during my WBTB, I try to focus on something I want to dream about. Usually, that would be the appearance of my dream guide Or daydreaming that I'm relaxing on a white sandy beach or playing my guitar

I was wondering where's puffin but once I read your name I was like Ohh....

Whatever you believe in a dream will probably happen so try focusing your attention to other things like goals or a object in a dream.

I'm a firm believer that having too much fear/anxiety/stress around lucid dreaming can completely prohibit you from having them at all. Remember, that if you're in a dream and you expect something to happen the likeliness of that happening is great.

The amazing, beautiful, mind-blowing experiences that I've had lucid dreaming greatly outweigh the bad. I think that even if you do have some bad experiences, these should be almost insignificant compared to the insight, knowledge and all-around amazingness that is sure to ensue from having them.

I can sort of relate to this. As of late I've had the odd idea that there's a figure standing in the corner of my room watching me as I sleep.

All well and good when sleeping normally but when entering straight into a lucid dream it occasionally has the tendency to manifest itself.

I think the best way to get over any sort of anxiety is just remembering that it's all my belief, and isn't any more real than I'm willing to let it be.

Thank you all for the comments, and cacophany, you have really re-asured me. I think that before I go to sleep I will think of what I want to achieve in the dream. Thanks again everyone!

I agree with Serenity. Psych yourself up during your WBTB.
