How not to control your breathing

      Hi everyone!

When im about to enter sleep paralysis i have huge probelms with my breathing. I try not to think about it but since i have nothing else to focus on i end up controling every breath, this keeps me from going deeper into SP, any tips?

Also sometimes when im very close to SP I completly lose the feeling of breathing, it becomes alot more difficult to breathe, this makes me feel as im suffocating and eventually grasp for air. im absolutley sure i dont have apnea, how do i get past this?

      thanks for any answers

Breathing exercises Focus even more on your breathing. Let yourself breath naturally from your diaphram. Focus on it and if u really feel like you're short on breath, breath in slowly until you feel you got enough air. Eventually it feels so relaxed to breath every small breath feels will make you feel very good and relaxed and can help you get into a wild. Don't force your breathing. Breath naturally!

I also find this as incredibly challenging since I practice yoga and breath regulation - I'm always controlling my breath, so letting it go is sometimes challenging. If you practice meditation at all, I would recommend doing a practice where you simply "watch" the breath, like you watch the thoughts.. tibetan bhuddist techniques work well for me with this objective of really letting go of grasping, down to the breath and thought itself. If you're interested at all check out literature from Soygal Rimpoche, just read The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying by him and there were some incredible and profound excersizes described by him there.

Best of luck and keep practicing!

That can be distracting. I try not to focus on my body at all during my WILD. That way, by the time any sort of distracting hypnagogia sets in, my consciousness and attention are already far from my body.
