      Having Trouble

For a few months now i've been wanting to LD. For the first month or so i kept a dream journal and my dream recall increased 10000%, however keeping a dream journal is a pain in the ass an i've more or less stopped. I had one LD for about 5 seconds and then got too excited and had a false awakening. I've tried listening to all those beat thingys but still no luck. I now believe my problem lies in not being aware in waking life or whatever the term is, how do i train myself up? Any other tips for me?

I'm kinda on the fence about the effectiveness of RCs, though I'm sure someone will point you at them.

Have you tried the WBTB method? I find the best method for me is setting my alarm an hour before I really want to wake up, reminding myself that I'm about to dream, then fall back asleep. It sounds like you have good dream recall, so you just need to remember that you are in a dream.

And I'm afraid for most people it comes with the territory that the first few times you become lucid you're either going to wake up, or "forget" that you're lucid during the course of the dream.

Take a poke through the other forums. There's lots of good stuff there.

Increase your general awareness, RC during the day. Don't just RC, doing the motion, you need to truly question your reality.

Try to time your WBTB for when you know you will be returning directly to a dream.
