      Unhappy Dreaming about explaining dreaming...

Okay, DV, I feel really stupid right now

I went to bed with some MILD-techniques, basic stuff like "I will be lucid", and some visualisation just before I fell asleep. Woke up at 4:30AM, and I could recall this very vivid dream of me explaining to a friend how dreaming works, telling him about lucid dreaming, RC's, the whole deal. Fun and all, except for the fact that I didn't become lucid -.-

Is this a typical newbie thing or do the experienced oneironauts get this as well?

Got up, went to the bathroom (in complete darkness), crawled back to bed and fell asleep in seconds. Woke up at 7:30AM, same thing.

Is there something I can do about this?

don't worry i have heard lot's of oneironauts get this, just read the 'stupidist ways you missed becoming lucid" thread and you will see it is quite common
They say dreaming is dead, no one does it anymore.
It's not dead it's just that it's been forgotten, removed from our language.
Nobody teaches it so nobody knows it exists.
The dreamer is banished to obscurity.
Well, I'm trying to change all that, and I hope you are too.
      By dreaming, every day.

Yeah, that is common, I hear. But it tells that lucid dreaming is on your mind and so, it's a sign of progress. (So I hear.)

That happens to almost everyone. CyperAleski has the right idea, it's probably because you're thinking about lucid dreaming so much.
Unless your awareness is high enough, you can do anything in a dream, including doing endless RCs and talking about LDing, without actually becoming lucid. It's a fine line to draw.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I wouldn't say it is a newbie thing. I still do it all the time. It is a good sign that dreaming is on your mind. Almost there

Thanks guys, that at least gives some satisfaction then Didn't get much time in the weekend to fiddle around with LD's but this week I'm all there again. I noticed that during the weekend I have much more vivid dreams though, and as a result much easier to remember. I wonder if that means something or has a scientifical explanation...

But anyway, back to DILD/MILD/WILD/FILD and the likes

Double post because it's actually not related enough to the previous post:p

For the sake of the tidyness of the forums (read: not wanting to start a new random thread) I'll just post some of my progress in here...

Since I joined DV, I noticed a HUGE increase in both vividness and recall of dreams. I'm up to 3 dreams recalled a night, of which the last one is usually very detailed. I made progress on awareness, wondering if I'm dreaming at random points during the day, and doing some RC's afterwards (usually kinda stealthy because I find myself surrounded by people throughout the day).

One dream about explaining lucid dreaming (which got this thread started in the first place), and 2 days ago a dream where I realised I was dreaming, but didn't do anything with it stupidly enough. Was kinda weird though, I woke up at some point in the night, fell asleep, started dreaming, and after a minute or so thought to myself "Hey, I just woke up in a dark room, so standing on a beach doesn't make much sense." But then I thought: "Oh well, I'm dreaming." AND THAT'S IT, the dream just went on and I went along with it -.- So, there's more progress to be made!

On a side note: Since talking a lot about dreaming, recall, and lucids to my girlfriend and my dad, both have noticed a significant increase in recall themselves, without actually doing anything special So guess talking about it is quite the powerful tool, right?
      Are you dreaming?
