      WOOOHOOO!! Success!

For months now I've attempted all manner of WILD techniques. I even had an OBE. but i could not control a thing.

then i started focusing on DILD/MILD stuff involving 3 different RC's and just last night i counted a 6th digits on my hand in a dream, unfortunately i got excited and too woke up.

i think getting excited is my biggest obstacle because everytime i used various wild techniques muscles something would block it.

thats great to hear, youve taken your first of many steps towards lucid dreaming.
remember to keep calm when you realise that your in a dream, my first lucid happened exactly like that!
for me im now learning to control and sustain my dreams

hope many more successes in the near future

remember not to get too stressed about not lucid dreamin many nights as you have only begun, think of it as a gift everytime you lucid dream.
hope to lucid dream everynight, but at the same time, understand that it will take time, and dont blame yourself that you wernt able to do it that night, its what i used to do, and its not worth it, if anything it can impair the ability to lucid dream.

      good luck

      Good luck tonight!!

Excitement is certainly an obstacle, but it's also good You're excited because you finally managed to accomplish the monumental task of getting lucid!

The thing to remember, upon becoming lucid, is to stabilize the dream. For me, this merely means activating my dream body's senses, getting involved with my dream environment. Always best to do something smaller like this before leaping in the air to fly

Congrats! I have the excitement problem too. It's hard not to get excited about it though!

Grats and good luck with future attempts.
Haven't really had a "real" LD myself, at least... I don't think I have.

Well done. To overcome the excitement have this pre-planned in your mind. As soon as you realise that you are dreaming touch any object and feel its texture and look at its surfcae. You can do this with your hands, clothes, a teacup, wallpaper etc. Don't spend more than one or two seconds on an object and quickly find something else to touch and examine visually. Go through this process for about ten seconds. This will have two effects. Firstly it will take your mind off your excitement. Secondly it will stabilise and deepen the lucid dream.

Did you get that from the Art of Dreaming by Carlos Castaneda?

I agree that the best way to keep yourself calm is to have something planned in advance, and rehearsed. Plan something that will help you engage with your surroundings. You need to stay convinced that your dream body and dream environment are "real."

Good job. Don't view the excitement waking you up as a negative, its a very common occurrence and its no biggy to get over.

Wow! This must have seemed like a feeling you have never felt before! I am so proud of you that you got this close to a LD. Keep trying and soon you will go into a LD. I envy you! I am still working on dream journals/recording dreams. Best of luck to you in the future and I look forward to reading more of your posts.

      Good job. Keep trying.

I have not consistently succeeded with WILD but did succeed few times. One thing I tried was clapping my handing when I felt the lucidity is fading and I'm losing the dream. I not only clap but focus on the clapping noise and make sure I hear it loud and clear. I worked well for me and I did regain the vividness and lucidity.

Wow, I had my first LD very recently as well, and I realized I was dreaming because of a 6th finger on each hand. That's really weird. Has anybody else experienced the 6th digit thing? I've never read about anybody else experiencing this, before experiencing it myself, so it couldn't have been because of expectation or anything. I wonder where that 6th finger thing comes from.

thanks fellow Oneironauts. though i have yet to get another LD (i made the mistake of using an audio recorder on my iphone as a dream journal, i need to write it down for some reason.) i'm seeing more reality clues. the 6th finger thing i found because one of my reality checks is to count the fingers on my hand. in a particularly vivid dream i noticed faces and hands were being obscured and one thing that shocked me was that i saw legible text in my dream.

Congratulations on your first lucid dreaming success!
I'd encourage you to look at ReeceJones87 on youtube, and look at his videos for The Five Layers of A Lucid Dream. I find his videos very interesting and they also seem to help me prepare for my Lucid Dreaming attempts...
Though I personally consider having this experience a great milestone for lucid dreaming, I personally don't think of it as a "real" lucid dream because you haven't messed around with your surroundings yet.
It takes practice, but keep trying to stay calm whenever you realize your dreaming... it helps to know what you want to do in your lucid dream before you go to sleep, and spin around in your dream once you realize that you are indeed dreaming.

      Hope that helps.

Dont worry too much about the excitement part, it seems that from my own experiences and others, that excitement is not such a big hindrance to lucid dreaming after all. I remember being very excited on my first lucid, but it still was very stable and did not wake me up. I get excited in just about every lucid dream I have, so dont worry about the excitement part.
