      Few Questions about WILD

Hey guys so I'm new here and have a couple questions about the WILD technique

First off, do you guy's tend to lay on your backs while attempting to WILD, cause I don't normally sleep laying on my back and this tends to keep me from falling asleep. But, at the same time when I lay on my side(like i usually do) I find it hard to truly relax which might interfer with me entering SP.

Also, what do most of you guys think about(or don't think about) while laying there attempting to WILD. I've been just trying to observe my hypnagogic imagery but a lot of times focusing on this just seems to keep me from falling asleep.

Sorry these are pretty newb questions, but thanks in advance to anyone who answers

      Hi Gmo, welcome to Dreamviews!

It doesn't really matter which position you're in when WILDing. It's a wide-held notion (which hasn't really been confirmed) that being on your back increases the chances of sleep paralysis, but if you're not comfortable in that position, don't use it. The key to WILDing is to let your thoughts wander, but staying focused on one particular thing. In essence, it's almost like you're trying to fall asleep but staying "anchored" in reality by listening to the ticking of a clock, or counting your breaths.

When you're at the HI stage, it's best to passively observe the images (and any sounds you might be hearing) without becoming too focused on them. Instead, try imagining dream sensations - imagine the sense of touch, and smell, and sight. Create a whole scenario around you by visualizing and imagining sensations, and it'll speed up the transition process.

Good luck! If you have any other questions or need clarification on something, don't hesitate to ask.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I will rarely see results while attempting to WILD on my back, I have a far higher success rate on my side. Why? Because I am much more comfortable on my side. As Puffin said, do whatever makes you comfortable, if you are uncomfortable chances are you are going to be irritable, distracted, and unsuccessful.

I have the same "problem" as you, as in I usually sleep on either left or right side, but feel I get relaxed faster when laying on my back. Don't mind that though because in the long run laying on your back while not being used to it will actually cause you to take longer to get to where you want to be
My WILDs so far have been while laying on my side, and the feeling you have about not truly relaxing is mostly in your head I think After all, you manage to fall asleep on your side every night, and falling asleep is ofcourse the most important thing for WILDing

What might also help, and helped me on 2 occasions, is laying on your back (don't worry about SP yet) until your body feels heavy and you feel sufficiently relaxed, and THEN slowly(because you don't want to lose the heavy and relaxed feeling) rolling to your side, getting comfortable, and proceeding.
      Are you dreaming?

Keep focus inside your head though, or you might find yourself waking up on your back the next morning:p
