      Alarm clock effect

Does an alarm clock have any effect on my dream or recall? I go to bed around 8:30/9:00, my wife & I need to get up at 5:00am for work. We need to set the alarm & that's how I wake during the work week. By being abruptly woken up have any ill effects on the dream or my recall ability? The last few nights/mornings I have had 0% recall, I even woke up in the middle of the night last night & my mind was blank. I know everyone has dry spells & that's what I'm going through for sure, but I was wondering about the alarm effect.

I find that waking up in "panic" and turning off the alarm as fast as I can is a sure way to shoot my dream recall in the chest. I've put up another alarm on my phone that goes off 5 minutes later, and during that 5 minute snooze, I try to recall what I can. There's not much you can do, but perhaps use an alarm with a "softer" ringtone or one of those lamps that imitates a sunrise.

I have to agree with Matte87. I find that if I get up too fast, everything I could've remembered goes out the window. I usually just let my alarm clock go off for a few moments while I lay in bed and try remembering dreams. Then I can get up and turn it off.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I guess that's why I have not had any recall all week long. Today I did not use the alarm clock & still did not recall. I read through the recall & dream signs tut.'s again & I was on this forum last night just reading a few other things just to get into the mind set of dreaming before I went to bed. I got my printer to work again, so now I can retrieve my dream journal entry that has been trapped in my "WORD" file. I need to bolt out of the house this morning, so I'll log the DJ entry later. & just keep at it I guess.
