Unhappy Not new, but rarely seen and still uncomfortable with DV

      Hi everyone.

I've been here for quite a while, but almost all of that time, I was inactive. I just felt like I didn't belong here. I never got a chance to make any friends because I was so nervous about being ignored, rejected, or trolled. I have enough problems with socializing and understanding what people mean.

Well, here I am. I'm probably about to repeat the cycle of posting, then leaving because people aren't interested in my posts and have better things to read.

I went to the chatroom to ask around for some advice on the forum, but everyone was involved in their own conversation about what I assume was Family Guy. I felt alienated.

This is what I see every time I log into Dreamviews: ----><-----

I want to start fresh and actually have somebody to talk to, but it's so hard when you don't know what so say without provoking a negative reaction from others. I'm so nervous.

I'm really nice and can be a loyal friend if people know me well enough. I'm just different. I speak my mind with all honesty. The big problem I have is knowing how to react to someone's post or conversation. Half of the time, I can't even start a conversation.

      Please give me a chance.

Thanks . I really don't know what to do or where to start right now. I feel like a complete stranger, an outcast.

Thats what is great about the internet you can say whatever you want and it woulnt really effect your life in any way. You can create a fresh start for yourself when ever you want by creating a new username. Just ignore the people who are jerks because the internet also works the other way around and lets them say what ever they want. You can start by talking about your dreams by wrigthing in the online dream journal if you want, I mean it is a dream fourm.

      I know how you feel.

Yup. Feeling out of place is not an uncommon feeling to me either. That happens in lots of places, not just this one forum. This forum has actually much more welcoming people than most. I, for one, am glad to meet you and hope that we can become buddies . And, everyone here has one goal in mind, to learn about lucid dreaming and to have them; That's the reason most people here can cooperate so well together (I mean, That's what I've observed). Besides, we all have our own unique quirks, and you can't please everyone, but there are always people who will welcome you with open arms and be happy to give you advice. There's a lot of supportive people here. Trust me.

Hey, relax! It's just the internet, and no one knows who you are, anyways.

I've definitely had my share of awkward situations where I've felt out of place, too. I have a hard time making new friends and tend to be more cautious around people, especially if I'm just jumping into a new group. As for the conversation, well, I'm not into family guy either, but there are lots of qualities everyone (or mostly everyone) at Dreamviews shares. We all like to lucid dream, for instance. There's a lot of nice people here; just give us a chance and we'll do the same.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Hi Arreon, I'm new on here too and just getting into LD lately, but you should know that you aren't the only one feeling that way. It's the internet, of course you are going to get people who just view everything you write as something that doesn't need their attention, but when you do find someone you can get along with on here - that's when it's worth the wait.

      Hey welcome back
My advise- stay away from chat, they never talk about lucid dreaming, well not that i see. They talk about stuff i have never heard of. It is barely a part of dreamviews. Well that's what i think anyway. If you want to use chat, i suggest going on at a less busy period, people seem to be a lot nicer around then and willing to answer questions

They say dreaming is dead, no one does it anymore.
It's not dead it's just that it's been forgotten, removed from our language.
Nobody teaches it so nobody knows it exists.
The dreamer is banished to obscurity.
Well, I'm trying to change all that, and I hope you are too.
      By dreaming, every day.

I wouldn't worry about trolling to much. I don't think I have ever seen any trolls on DV. Well then again I've never been in a chatroom on DV so I don't know about that. But normally trolls don't seem to be a big problem.

I'm with you on the not knowing what people mean, if its not rational or logical I don't get it. Heck I have yet to learn how to flirt it just doesn't make any sense. And the outcast part when i was still in school I would go days with out speaking to class mates, the only time I talk was when I had to. So try talking to me some time, also below your name it has autistic dreamer, do you have aspergers?

frederom it does matter because it lets you have a better understanding of how he thinks, I'm not trying to be rude. To know more about him lets you see the world threw his eyes better and you are less likely to make assumptions.

      I agree with you.

I was just saying that it doesn't matter if you are different (non racist comment)

Thanks for understanding . I admit, I'm awkward when it comes to first impressions, but once people get to know me, I get better.

It's all about confidence man. You tell yourself that you're the best. If you really believe that you piss excellence, then eventually, you will. I used to be a wallflower/loner/outcast in HS, but I learned about confidence in college and it's easy for me to talk to and make new friends, even with attractive women.

      Hi Arreon,
I in the same boat as you. I read the forums, read the guides and tried it myself for the last few months without ever signing up. Today I signed up because I have a few questions that I need someone with experience to answer. Hopefully we can both benefit from DV!

      Goodluck!,
      Jake
