      Greetings and a few questions

      Hello fellow lucid dreamers.

I have been looking at this site for about 6 months and I had been reading different sections of the forum (especially tutorials) and I've been too lazy to register up until now. I hope this site can help me lucid dream at least once a week. I have great dream recall(Usually remember 2 dreams a night), and I have had 1 lucid dream and 1 OBE to date

      Now for my questions:
For as long as I can remember, during the day for brief flashes I get the feeling of a blend of light-headiness and like I am leaving my body. Today when I was lying in my bed, I started to get these flashes again. Remembering the tutorials I got from this site, I decided to try to LD. Using the MILD(WILD?) technique, I closed my eyes and lied still. I let the flashes start to wash over me and each flash lasting a bit longer. After a few minutes of this, the blackness from me closing my eyes sort of disappears, I see different colors, and my body is feeling very light. Usually I never get this far and I opened my eyes. When I "opened" my eyes, my entire body was paralyzed, I couldn't move a single finger no matter how hard I willed myself. I also found it very hard to keep my eyes open (They were half-closed the entire time). I started to see my bedroom walls start to fade and they turned from white to a weird orangey color. After about 5 minutes(not sure how long really) I closed my eyes and when I opened them again I could move again. Last time this happened was when I was about 7, but I was terrified since I couldn't move or scream for help or anything(I am such a baby I know).

Now that my situation is explained here are some questions:
-Was this sleep paralysis, a partial OBE, a LD, a combination, or something else LD related?
-If it was sleep paralysis, how do I advance from it to a full LD?
-Due to my 7 hours a sleep on the weekends, what technique is best for me?
-Should I still keep a dream journal even though I have good dream recall?
-Do you experience these "flashes" of mine?

I hope to have a good time here and thanks for reading

      - This was sleep paralysis and you were transitioning to the dream state. This is the early stages of the WILD process, in which you transition from waking life directly into the dream state without losing consciousness.
      - Stay calm and try not to move much while this process is going on. Generally, the hardest part of the entire process is getting sleep paralysis to set in (you already did that here). I like to casually observe the images and other hallucinations (HI/HH) that you may experience. Try not to focus too much on one particular idea or image. Keep in your mind that you are about to enter a lucid dream and just let the process do the work for you. Soon you will entire the dream state, where you should perform some stabilization techniques and then explore/do whatever. Remember to just relax the entire time, and let the dream take you in.
      - It sounds to me like you hit SP fairly naturally (I do as well. I used to get it a lot when I was younger and it would scare me too), so every time this happens, be prepared to take advantage of it and get in some good WILDs. I would also add some RCs to your daily routine. Whichever technique you are most comfortable with is the one you should go with. After browsing through the tutorials, try out whatever you think will work best for you. Techniques work differently for everyone. Just experiment and have fun with it. See what best suites you. Good Luck!
      - Its always best to keep a dream journal. It will only help. Keeping a dream journal alone can spark lucid dreams. Just the idea of remembering/recording/documenting your dreams somewhere will keep lucid dreaming fresh on your mind at all times. That will only benefit you.
      - I'm not quite sure what you mean about the flashes. Are you tired when you feel these? If so, it may be your body wanting to enter sleep, thus giving you opportunities for WILDs. Next time this happens try to take a nap and see where that gets you. That light headed feeling comes as you enter SP. Mid-day naps are excellent times to perform WILDs.
