With lucid dreaming, there isn't much that you should be trying really hard to do. You to just relax and let it pulse on its own. Don't force anything, just let it happen. Just follow along with the process in your mind. And what happens/what do I do if I start seeing (in my mind's eye) something other than what I'm trying to LD? That happens sometimes, I'll have my mind set on what I'm trying to dream about, and I'll imagine it, then I forget about imagining it and I think about something else. Well, that happens. HH/HI can't be fully controlled. If you want a articular scene, you have to imagine it at the end of the process when the dream is forming. Its ok to think of whatever, until then. Even if you get into a dream and it isn't where you want to be. You can always just travel to the scene place once your in the dream. I would just try to get into the dream first. Worry about where you want to be once you are there. You can always just change the dream scene once you are in the dream.
Also, what do I do about not being able to fall asleep? I'm relaxed enough! I just can't do it!
Well, you have to be tired. If you are performing WBTB and can't fall asleep, you should stay up for a shorter amount of time before attempting to WILD. If its during a nap, you should try and get less sleep the night before, so you will be able to fall asleep more easily during the day. If you aren't tried at all, its going to be hard to succeed at WILD, because it will be hard to fall asleep. Falling asleep during a WILD is like falling asleep any other time. You need to be at least a little tired, or it will be difficult (take a long time).
