      First LD...Sorta

I just had my first lucid dream after six days after trying ....sorta!

I was at school (I seem to have at least one dream every night where I'm at school, possible dream sign?) laying on my bed when this girl came over and sat next to me. She said that the bed was comfortable, and I said "Yes, and it's my bed." When I said that I thought to myself..."Wait a second, why is my bed in the middle of this school. I realized I must be dreaming, but unlike what I've read about everything becoming vivid and clear it instantly faded into black when I thought of that.

I remembered what I read about stabilizing, so I tried to rub my hands together which I could feel the dream slightly coming back. Then I started spinning and saw myself in my grandmother's house and lost lucidity . The dream continued for a while after that. So I'm not totally sure how lucid I was.

Well you were lucid. and it doesnt always become vivid and clear. All I can really recommend is trying some stabilization techniques

      Pogswarts,

Yes indeed, that was a lucid dream! As Refrain said, it doesn't always become extremely vivid. That is just a desirable possibility. My advice is to simply try to build on your experience. You've had one LD, now try for 2! If you could just have one twice as long, wouldn't that be cool? Many people report extremely gratifying LD's where they just walk around and check out the environment their own brain created for them. To me, that alone is deep stuff. If you can appreciate simple things like that, flying and imitating Godzilla will be even more fun!

Edit: I think your dream simply ended because of excitement from your realization. That's normal. You probably already know this, but if not - the main challenge is to walk the fine line between not getting too excited and not getting so relaxed you lapse back into regular dream mode.

Congrats on your success! If you frequently are having school dreams, than this is indeed a decent dream sign. Try and see if there are any locations at your school that you frequently find yourself in. You could set-up RCs in relation to these places. The hand rubbing is a pretty good stabilization tech. Since you are relatively new to LDing, I wouldn't recommend dream spinning for stabilization unless the dream is about to be completely lost/you feel yourself waking up. I like to think of it as a dreaming refresh button. If you perform several stabilization techniques and none have cleared the dream up...then go for the dream spin. Some others you can try: look down at your feet until your vision clears up (smaller area/easier area to process) and then slowly raise your head to the forward facing position, stare at a single object and imagine it getting clearer and clearer...then broaden your area and do the same, windshield wiper technique...wipe away the blurriness by moving your arm in a windshield wiper motion, shout out loud..."Increase clarity NOW!", reach in your pocket and feel around until you find a small pill...ingest the dream clarity pill, or make your own techniques. Try out a bunch and see what works best for you. Good Luck to you!

Exactly, it is amazing just looking around at what all your brain can do. I have had lucids where I simply sat down in a scenic area, fired up a blunt, and just watched my dream environment around. So relaxing. I also had a dream where I just chilled in a lazy river the entire dream...I ended up smoking blunts with my shadow as we floated around on inner tubes, lol.

I tried that before having my first "real" lucid dream. I had not learned about stabilization at that time, so I not only missed the opportunity to become lucid, I also accidentally woke up myself and felt so extremely disappointed I didn't grasp my opportunity.
