Trouble going from SP to sleep

A bit of an intro: I am NOT a morning person. I hate mornings with a passion. It has been my experience that people can't seem to understand how much I absolutely loathe waking up in the morning. I may make plans, whether it's something I want to do and am excited about, or something I have to do, like school or work, but when I wake up in the morning, NOTHING seems important anymore but going back to sleep. Consequently, I am a master of going right back to sleep in the morning. I always tell room mates and such not to worry about waking me up in the morning, because I have absolutely no trouble with waking up partially and going right back to sleep if I don't want to wake up.

Because of this, my biggest concern when getting into lucid dreaming was whether or not I'd be able to make myself wake up for WILD. However, maybe because of something special about that time of night, maybe because it's still new so I'm excited, but so far I've been able to pry myself out of my bed for a few minutes when my alarm goes off at 4 in the morning.

First night I just fell back asleep, but last night I went into sleep paralysis. I now see what people mean when they say you KNOW when you've gone into SP. I wasn't scared reading about it; not the slightest bit nervous at the idea. I was actually quite excited to see what it would be like. But without even hearing anything and for seemingly no reason at all, I suddenly became very anxious and my heart felt like it was pounding. I felt numb, couldn't move, and after a while I heard ticking or clicking noises. So I know I was in SP. (The whole time before and during SP I was repeating in my head to be conscious and aware during my dreams, and not just saying it, but really focusing on what that meant)

This happened pretty quickly, in the range of 10-20 minutes, but for the rest of the hour I remained there in SP. I know this because I'd set another alarm for an hour later at 5 am in case I didn't have an LD before and could try again at 5. I was still in SP when my alarm went off. During the last 10 minutes or so of the hour, I started feeling very irritated and itching to do something other than just sit there not moving repeating to myself the same thing over and over for that long, and also to really think about the meaning of what I was repeating and not let it just become words when doing it for nearly an hour.

So then my alarm went off. A very strange experience popping out of SP like that; it felt like there was a small, brief electric shock, and then when I moved to turn my alarm off, I still felt a bit numb, and my feet felt very strange when walking over to it. So anyways, I sat up for a minute or two, and tried again. This time I just went right to sleep.

So what was that? Why couldn't I get myself to go into sleep from SP?
      Sorry for my wordiness.

First of all...I thank you for doing such a wonderful job paragraphing...It made it easier for me to read your post.

Second...It honestly to me sounds like you are trying TOO hard. I suggest meditating before you start to SP that way you can calm your mind beforehand.

If you need tips on how to meditate just PM me or Google it!

      Sincerely,
      ~Icy

Thanks for the response! I'm quite familiar with self-hypnosis, and I've started doing that before I go to bed at night, but not after waking up and before going back to sleep. I guess I'll try that. Thanks!

On the waking up, I had/have your problem. I find that drinking something helps me wake up.

On the SP, I keep falling asleep without being able to WILD. I'm still working on it. I had a DILD yesterday, so I'm excited to successfully WILD. I read that WILD produces very vivid and lucid results.
