Red face Help with an annoying dream.

      Hi everyone.
Last night I had a very annoying dream that very very very easyly could have become a lucid dream. I know that there are some stories out there like this but I think mine is ridiculous.

To make it quick, It starts of with me suddenly at my old primary school that i haven't been to in years (slight hint there). I felt that i was being chased by something for some unknown reason (which is a common theme for my dreams). I eventually found myself in an odd location in the school where I found my family and told them that we were in a dream (big hint there) and that we had escape whatever was chasing us. We eventually escaped and got the school yard. At the school yard, I taught them the 3 reality checks in know to prove to them that we were in a dream and they agreed that they were also dreaming. I even did them myself (this is probably another big hint that I was dreaming). We eventually "escaped" to the side streets of the school where i pointed out a dream sign to my family. It was a guy riding a 3-8 wheeled bike (another big hint). We ran around for a while (i was completely aware that i couldn't run properly) before we ended up back in the school. Suddenly someone who looked a lot like Sheldon from the show The Big Bang Theory suddenly popped up and said something nerdy that i don't remember (he was also colored blue). I don't even watch the show (although i heard its pretty funny). I then appeared in class and the dream ended.

I know your probably thinking HOW ON EARTH DID THIS NOT BECOME A LUCID DREAM. It did not occur to me once in the dream that i should probably try to become lucid. How are RC and dream signs supposed to work if I just ignore them in my dream?

A false awakening and now this. Sometimes i get the feeling that my sub-conscience is taunting me.

On a semi related note, I noticed that when i attempted a wild for the past few nights, I kept falling asleep even before i felt SP. The first couple of nights i tried lucid dreaming, I did feel SP but nothing since. Any tips to fix this.

      I hope someone can help.

I too have had dreams about lucid dreaming without realizing i could become lucid i assume its a common problem or maybe we are both just very stupid

as for the WILD i have had no successes with it but there is a technique called WBTB where you sleep 6 hours, wake up and stay up for 30 minutes and then attempt a WILD, obviously not every one's schedule will allow this but i have heard it works wonders

Thanks for the advice. I have school so WBTB may be a bit difficult.

i wouldnt worry about it its very common. check the 'ways you missed being lucid' thread, there are some crackers there. it does feel like you are being toyed with, but its just a slight alignment problem between your conscious and subconscious, and if you look at it with a funny light hearted view it will be easier to overcome. it sounds like you are only a hairs breadth away from it anyway so i look forward to your journal entry 2mo

ps i had a great lucid this morning, then thought i had woken up and spent the next hour or so of my dream explaining the previous dream to my brother....damn time missed again

it doesnt really matter how early you have to get up, just set an alarm for an hour or 2 before you have to and wbtb shouldnt interfere. i actually manage to bounce out of bed a lot easier after some wbtb's, especially after a great lucid

Yeah, this happens a lot in a dreams, because when we sleep, the logical part of our brain sleeps too.
So, when someone tell you that you are dreaming you'll probably say: ''Ok, so what?''
And lucid dream is when you manage to use that logical part in the dreams, so when someone say: ''Hey man, you are dreaming!'', you say ''Hmm, I should do a reality check''
In the beggining is hard, but just keep trying and there will be results
      Good luck

Yeah, I've read somewhere that when you WBTB, the logic part of your brain is more active in your dreams.

when you do your reality checks, try not to just let them become a habit. really get into them, visualising yourself becoming lucid in the dream whenever you do them. also rotate the types of check you do to stop them becoming habit forming. whenever you reality check in real life, dont say 'ok this time im not dreaming' ever. this can also become a habit which can spill over into dreams. good luck

      That was my point
