      Everything is normal

I'm pretty new to the lucid dreaming thing. I've been experimenting only 3 nights now, but have a question and I'm looking for advice. I've remembered dreams for all 3 nights now and am getting good at writing them down right away. I read about LD all day so it's always on my mind, I do some reality checks throughout the day, read about it some more before bed so it's fresh in my mind again, hit the binaural beats, and doze off

Here's the part that gets me. I don't remember dreaming until I've already woken up, then I start recalling what happened in the dream. It seemed like last night I had a dream that was set up perfect with multiple triggers for realizing that I was dreaming, things that are TOTALLY not normal. There was no "Wait a minute!" moment.

You would think seeing a Chrystler 300 parked half way in the water on stairs that led from an ocean to a castle's front door, and then chasing a dog I've never had under water would set something off. In my "dream mind" all of that seems logical and legit, nothing out of the ordanary, until I wake up and realize that it was crazyness.

It's like my mind is sabotaging my plans of having a lucid dream by telling itself that everything is normal so that I don't realize that I'm dreaming.

      Any ideas?

I think you just need more practice. Maybe you will see results if you do the same thing you've been doing for about a week. You can also try mantras or look in your dream journal for individual dream signs. Sometimes it is just the small recurring things in your dream that can trigger lucidity and not the huge weird things.

I've had a dream where I was underwater and talking to a magic sea turtle. Even though I can't swim, was breathing underwater, talking to animals, and it was magic, I didn't become lucid. I also had a dream my parents got me an armadillo for my birthday and it attacked me. Still didn't become lucid despite all the obviously wrong things with that. I almost always become lucid though when there are zombies in my dream or if they're even mentioned. While all 3 of these are out of the ordinary, the zombies are a recurring dream sign. The other 2 are just 1 time things. Although hard to explain and understand, I hope I helped you.

      P.S. I fear armadillos now.

You don't get into a habit after three days. You need to keep at it and try for a longer period of time before you start seeing conclusive results. Just keep on trying Good luck!

      Hi, welcome to Dreamviews!

When you do your reality checks, do you just go through the motions? If so, you should start to practice general awareness, which causes DILDs probably about 95% of the time. Feel the floor under your feet, see how the computer mouse fits inside your hand, etc...

Simply doing reality checks doesn't really do anything. You walk in real life, so you obviously walk in your dreams, because it's a habit. Therefore if you make RCs a habit, you'll do them in your dreams without realizing it or becoming lucid!

Also, don't get discouraged. It takes some people less time, and others longer to have their first lucid. There isn't a set time.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

^ What she said is also true.

http://www.dreamviews.com/f12/all-da...gyoshi-113253/ would probably help with practicing awareness.
