My first time here, and hopefully a potential LD person

      Hi guys,
I heard of LD before but I was sceptic about it and I will always be untill i have my first LD, but I got really interessted started googling around and came to this place.

I've started a dream journal, doing reality checks frequently troughout the day (just trying to put my finger trough my hand), and saying the same sentences over and over again before i go to sleep

      "i will have a LD
      I will do reality check
      I will remember my dream"
      as in the guide .

Now Are there any other recommended readings? Furthermore what is the average time to achieve one, I can only say that i am able to remember some meaningless dreams very very well for multiple years. Don't know why.

So tips/Hints, tricks would be gladly accepted

      regards,
      Alexander

      Hi Alex, welcome to Dreamviews!

I recommend reading some guides on awareness, such as Yoshi's ADA tutorial and my own awareness guide. Both focus on a key aspect of the DILD technique, which I assume you're using along with MILD (mnemonic induced lucid dream).

It sounds like you're on the right track!

As for an average time, it's really hard to determine. Some people can take as many as a few years, while others can have their first lucid that same night. I had my own in two or three days of trying, but I really read up on lucid dreaming. The more "into" it you are, the quicker it may take. It's also good to note that you shouldn't become discouraged if you don't get one as soon as you'd like.

A lot of people are skeptical about lucid dreaming at first, because it either sounds wierd, stupid, or impossible. That's not the case though so try to keep an open mind lol.

If you need clarification on anything, or have questions, feel free to ask!

So basically, do those awareness test during, day , dream journal and reality checks?

Yep, that's basically it. Be sure to really question reality during the day; after all - reality feels real so we don't question it. But then again, dreams also feel real so we don't question them either. What's the true difference until you do a reality check?

      Reality checking, stay focused.

PS. Couple your RCs' with the nose-plug RC because I had an instance where the 'finger through hand' failed for me and I didn't have any other RC to do after it.

Try to train yourself to wake after every dream throughout the night to remember and record it. You don't need to do a full WBTB, but paying attention to your midnight awakenings can greatly improve your recall and chances of becoming lucid.

Yes, the finger-through-hand has a rather ugly chance of failing. With the nose-plug, you can test to see if you can breathe, and also test for pressure (caused by trying to breathe in without any intake of air).

ok i"m doing those trying to breath technique combined with the awarness.

Had a great expirience this morning, woke up, wanted to write down dreams, coudn't remember a thing. Just kept lying thinking about it, and step by step i was able to remember 4 different dreams.

Congrats! That's a good technique to help recall dreams. Keep it up.

Try to tell your sub concious things in the present tense. I don think it understands time. Also HOPEFULLY a lucid dream person??? With that attitude it will be hard to lucid dream, tell yourself that you ARE a lucid dreamer. I didn't get regular LD like 3 or 4 times a week until I went from maybe ill go lucid soon to I WILL go lucid tonight. I have to admit following this advice is harder than it sounds. There might always be doubt until you see the results. I learned this the hard way and had to beat it into my subconcious.

I tired to put my hand into my stomach in my LD last night and the dream was so realistic, it felt uber creepy to feel my hand inside me.

I just had another new expirience for me.

I was taking a short "noon-nap", in which i had a short dream. I was one 1 meter away from the bed where i was sleeping on which i was working on a pc on my desk, while there actually isn't any pc in my room. Then I watched at the alarm clock; and for the first time i did the double check of the digital time. And there was a 5 minute difference, then I realized I must be dreaming, and right after that I woke up.

Now let's hope I can do that in a full night's rest.

I'm not anymore. Being able to fully remember 2-3 different dreams of one night and the experience of 2 posts above stopped me from doing that =-

I just wanted to let you all know, I h ad my first lucid dream yesterday. Quite unexpected, I was terribly busy with professional issues so I wasn't really thinking of reality checks ect. But then in my dream I was in the same place as my bed looked outside and there was much snow, which is quite weird since it was 25° celcius here . So I thought hmm odd, I did the nose plug and kept on breathing very bizar So I realized I was dreaming -what a feeling-. Then I basically said let's go for it, and jumped out the window, which is a 4 meter drop. walked around a bit, but for some reason every person I met was the same one, I can't recall who it was but it wasn't someone I know :-)

It's always someone you "know"... at least that's what they say. You might not recall that person, but your subconscious lacks the capability of "inventing" people up.
      Congrats BTW.

It kind of is... it also sounds fun. It kind of reminds me of that scene in "Being John Malkovich" where he goes through the portal himself. Perhaps you just got a lazy subconscious xD

      Good work man!
      You're a natural Lucid Dreamer!!
I started off with close to no recall etc etc, and I find it really hard to have a Lucid Dream.
But, the more practice, the more results. Just hoping for some pretty soon.

Im also going to try using Choline Bitartrate to induce a Lucid Dream. Hope it works.

      That's great, congratulations!

Don't think about gravity. If you can, imagine the air pushing you up instead of pushing you downwards, as if there's a massive fan below you. Try using a jetpack, wings (just "know" you have wings and the ability to fly, don't think much about it and just DO it), or...

...My personal favourite. Just position yourself like in the image and imagine the rockets doing all the work - turning on, pushing off from the ground.

When you fly, imagine the feeling of the wind and the thrust caused by leaving the ground; it'll help keep the flight going. Good luck!
