Hi I moved your post to the newbie zone and made it a thread.

Congratulations on your first DILD. Dream control is all about belief in yourself. If you believe you can control your dream you can.

Spells still require belief in yourself. I have never used them but I assume they work for those who use them.

Use a wand if you want to try spells out. If you've watched Harry Potter, you know a wand is needed. It gets alot easier to do them if you have seen the powers been used in another way already. Same goes with "The force" from "Star Wars".

      Contratulations on the first lucid!

Expectations and believing that something will have a certain outcome is a huge part of dream control. Master that, and maybe a bit of visualization as to what something will look like, and you'll have great control over your dreams! I've used spells a few times and like Zebrah said, they too require your belief that they'll do a certain thing. If you just grab a wand and start throwing it everywhere, it may not do anything or do something totally unexpected.

It's good to set up an itinerary if you have a specific thing you want to do in your next LD, too - that way you don't waste dream time by sitting around and trying to figure out what you're going to do.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Most important thing is to KNOW that you have control.

If you know what you want to do beforehand, it's easier. But when you're in the dream, as long as you are confident that it's all in your head, you should be able to make things happen. Having said that, sometimes I have dreams where I'm aware, but slightly removed from the action (with no direct control), and that's okay too. It's always fun
