I believe introductions are in order.

Hello, everyone. I am Emperor Of My Mind, and I am pleased to meet you and to join this community of oneironauts.

I suppose I should say a little about myself. Very few of my personal details really matter, so I'll keep this short: I am 18, I live in the United States, and I will begin to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering shortly. I became very interested in Lucid Dreams (Dreams in general, actually) about a month ago, though I have heard of and have had a few lucid dreams long before then. (Very few - less than seven that I can remember, and I had awoken upon the realization that I was dreaming in at least four.)

The reasons for my sudden interest in lucid dreams are many, though the most significant among them is simple curiosity, followed closely by the fact that it sounds really fun.

I've already taken my first steps by starting a dream journal, taking regular reality checks and being generally more aware of my surroundings than before, and taking on a positive attitude. I've not achieved lucidity yet, at least not that I can remember, but I believe it is only a matter of time.

Anyway, I'm glad to be here. I'll be sure to ask questions if I can't find the answers by searching.

Hi and welcome to DV! Keep at it, for some people it takes days, others weeks to get lucid, but you will definitely make it one day

Do you have a goal? If you have something fun you look forward to trying out, it will help alot with getting lucid. Lucid dreaming is so much fun and the possibilites are endless.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Hi, welcome to the Dreamviews forum!
Lucid dreams are fascinating, and they're also very fun.

You're on the right track - dream journaling is important so you can remember your lucid dreams well, reality checks are good for testing whether you're dreaming or not, and awareness is crucial in any lucid, no matter what the technique. Keep this up and don't stress if you don't get a lucid right away - it can take some people longer than others as Matte has said.

In the mean time, if you haven't yet, read up on dream control and see what you might want to do in your first lucid. Check out stabilization techniques too.

      Good luck!
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Several goals, in fact. They range from the traditional flying to RPG-like experiences. But my major goal can be gleaned from my username - Aside from whatever figurative interpretations of "Emperor of my Mind" you come up with, I also mean it quite literally. I want to attempt to rule a dream-country for the duration of a dream as a Napoleonic Dictator. That'd be fun.

Welcome Emperor, you sound extremely cool. I am looking forward to your posts! Also your command of the English language is impressive.
Lucid dreaming takes three things: Patience, practice, and perseverance.

Thank you. I am extremely cool. (I would advise using strict caution, lest my ego inflate to the point that it crushes us all.)

It's your use of language that attracted me to this thread!

Welcome to DV, I'd shake your hand or give you a hug but unfortunately my laptop's in the way so I can't quite reach.
