Exclamation Problem with Lucidity during nightmares.

Hey guys, I've been lucid dreaming for 2 weeks now, I've had about 6 LDs (no luck with WILD). My real query comes from my nightmare last night.

The nightmare was split into two parts. The first, the sky was blood red and the terrain jagged and bizarre, as if from another planet. The sky was filled with giant floating monsters similar to this (can't post links). One glided toward me and tried to eat me. Obviously given the state of mind during a nightmare this was a lot more terrifying. I became lucid towards the end using a nose-plug RC, but was unable to intervene, luckily by LDing the dream collapsed.

The 2nd nightmare then formed, here I was in a fight with a malformed figure, it being a nightmare it felt like I was punching through water. Realizing this absurdity I became lucid, and performed a nose-plug RC, I was perfectly aware at this point, and attempted to destroy the figure, but to no avail. The inability to do anything during my lucidity meant I slowly became less assured and the dream became far worse.

One other thing to note, my first LD was a nightmare, not including when I was younger and didn't grasp what lucidity was. In my first true LD I was running away from somebody, they got locked behind the door my bedroom, after that I became lucid, I decided to create a gun, this worked but upon firing it the bullets turned to water.

What am I missing in all these scenarios? I have clear understanding of my lucidity, yet each time the dream worsens due to the vividness I attain from lucidity. Annoyingly enough my most vivid dreams are nightmares, and they tend to be the majority of my dreams (6:1 ratio).

Before I learnt lucid dreaming I didn't remember my dreams, but now with my Dream Journal I'm dreaming almost every night and now those stream of nightmares are reappearing. So my question is how can I prevent nightmares, and what is behind my lack of ability to truly intervene.

      You just gotta BELIEVE, man!
In dreams/nightmares, reassure yourself that you can do anything. Try saying it out loud. Then, get to an area you feel is safe, and summon the monsters, etc. THEN KICK SOME ASS.

      Welcome

You don't need to worry too much, because as soon as you have more lucid dreams you will learn how to have more control over your lucids. Eventually you will learn techniques to stop the nightmare in an instant. I really recommend reading this: http://www.dreamviews.com/f139/lesso...ontrol-116300/ followed by this: http://www.dreamviews.com/f139/lesso...part-i-116649/ and then you should be on your way to great lucids and no nightmares

I lose the ability to alter the dream world whenever I have a nightmare. Subconsciously there's something that I'm afraid of but in waking hours all my thoughts and emotions are suppressing the fear but in a dream all hell breaks loose. You have to convince yourself that you can overcome ANYTHING in a lucid dream because its your dream world so you can shape it to your liking.

Thanks a lot guys, overcoming the doubt of lucidity is the hardest thing for me so far, even in my non-nightmare LD's, the furthest I've gotten was an LD where I noticed my reflection in a painted glass window, so performed a Hand-glance RC, then pushed myself through the window onto the ground outside, after that I attempted to fly but could only hover no matter how much I tried to reassure myself.

I'm just wondering rather than looking for a way to perfectly stabilize my lucidity which may take a while, there must be tricks or forms of relaxation that prevent nightmares from occurring. I would rather try to gain lucid dreaming in a non-nightmare scenario, I think having a stream of constant nightmares is only going to further put me off attempting to LD and remember my dreams, I mean that in a more subconscious sense.

I'll look over KingYoshi's guides, its the stuff I've been working from for WILDing I didn't notice those threads so thanks a lot, hopefully they'll help .

Well once you start lucid dreaming more the nightmares will just go awsay. I used to have terrrible nightmares. But now that i have been lucid dreaming i still have nightmares but they arent scary. Its like im just naturally okay with scary things in my dreams.

Also instead of trying to fight the nightmares try to get away from them. Start flying away or just lock yourself into a room. Then when safe you can stabalise the dream and maybe kick those monsters ass.

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

Maybe try to stabilize your LD first, perform some more RC's, rub your hands, and ground your lucidity by using all your senses.
Then try to use the dream control methods.
