      Keeping a dream journal?

I've always wrote down my dreams so I can better recall them in great detail, but out of curiosity, how much should I write? I will end up writing one dream on a college-ruled piece of paper front and back, and I usually have 4-6 dreams a night. I'm not going to be writing 8-12 pages every morning.

      Help? Thanks!

I don't think it's necessary to write a lot, just specific enough details to help you remember. You can write down little details and expand upon them later, that's what I do.

I would recommend writing all the details you can remember, but since you are remembering so many dreams you should just write bullets of what happened. The main points of your dream. That way you won't have to write as much. Of course you could always type your dreams, if you don't want to waste paper.

I type them on my iPod. That way it's always next to my bed, only I can read it, and it's all digital. No paper wasted and I can copy it to my computer whenever I like.

I highly recommend you turn to an electronic dream journal, there one somewhere on this site which is really good. I still use paper to note down key points during the night so I don't forget the dream.

I also suggest writing as many details as you can remember and using the DJ or WJ here on DV to speed up the process. It's well worth time.

I second James' comment, writing as much detail as you can remember is really helpful. Remembering your dreams more clearly naturally conditions you to be more concious during your dreams, leading to higher chances to get lucid. If you don't feel like writing as much, summarise some things into dot points, but make sure you still completely understand the detail
