I would first off like to say that I have had many experiences with OBE's and lucid dreams, prior to my knowledge that they were what they actually are. The funny thing is, a couple years ago I went to the doctor for my frequent migraines w/auras (as diagnosed), and my doctor asked me if I had previously had any OBE's and I had no idea what that was or meant, but I will always remember that moment.
Not until a long while after did I decide to check into what she said when I discovered that has been happening to me on and off for my whole life, its just that I would have no control over when they occurred. Many of the times I would not realize I wasn't actually awake and I would continue on with my business.
Then I would wake up and realize after the couple seconds of confusion that was an OBE. I have also always had very good dream recall while remembering fine details, which leads me to believe this should be easy for me to learn to do on command (OBE). Anyways, short story long, I ended up here and now I am trying the methods given while still taking in the vast amounts of information as I learn more and more about the topic.
So, I have been trying to use to timer method in the early morning, waking up around 4 am and dosing off to the timer. Last night I felt I should have succeeded; I woke up from the timer (after going to sleep at 4am, again.) and did not move any parts of my body and remembered not to open my eyes.. I was initially confused, I thought my eyes were open but they were closed, I was still able to see through them.
I thought I was going to be able to do the OBE for sure. To my surprise this was not the case. I still felt my body, I was not even in partial paralysis.. I thought if I continued to lie still I would be in paralysis, 5 minutes goes by and still no paralysis, just the constant uncomfortable pain I was receiving since waking up.
I was unable to sleep again in that position so I moved and then fell asleep. Can anyone share their knowledgeable insight? Thanks in advance.
