Control your dreams you say? Sign me up!

Hey there. Randomly stumbled onto this website after looking up some other strange things on the internet that randomly popped into my head (like how it feels like you know when eyes are on you) and I have to say that I am completely fascinated at all of this. Being able to actually do this intentionally is something that has never crossed my mind.

I can think of a few instances while dreaming where I actually said "What the? I must be dreaming." and either continued dreaming or woke up right after. I remember an instance at least 15 years ago where I actually heard an outside conversation while still in the dream, but continued on dreaming until I woke up shortly after. I still remember it to this day.

Anyways, I have a couple questions regarding Lucid Dreaming if anyone out there would care to answer, I would be very appreciative.

The first involves my sleeping habits. I am a Biphasic sleeper, meaning I sleep twice during the day. One is a 1-3 hour nap before work, and then a 4.5-5 hours of actual sleeping after work. From what I've seen from a few threads it seems that it's easier to do when sleeping a full 8 hours, which I haven't done during the week in many years. Though on the weekends I usually tend to get 8-10. My question is, is there anyone out there with a similar sleep style that can regularly attain a Lucid Dream? Is it possible? If not, can trying to train my body to do this on weekends still result in Lucid Dreams?

My other question is more on the tech related side of things. Are there any Android apps and such that can help achieve Lucid Dreams? Strange question I know, but I'm a tech junkie and if there's something useful I can add to my already awesome Droid, then I'm down.

Well, that's all for right now. I plan on keeping a Dream Journal next to my bed and will attempt to train my body to write down my dreams each time I wake up. I'm very excited to get this whole process started, and I am glad that there is such a helpful community for it.

tl;dr Can't wait to start having Lucid Dreams, and you guys are awesome!

Well im not a master but i have had some lucid dreams and have read enough to know that it would be easier for you to get the full 8 hour sleep however using the WBTB technique along with the WILD is the best option... the problem is that the WILD is the hardest technique to learn and to some people can be a little frightning due to the stages of sleep paralysis. I for one use DILD and WBTB as a combo and lucid dreaming sometimes can be random even if having just a nap... the truth is being confidant and believing that you will lucid dream is a big factor into whether or not you will have one, it is important not to get discouraged if you dont get one right away...
Make sure if you are just starting out to do reality checks all the time so i do it every time i walk under a door so it will carry on to the dream state
as for droids i dont have a clue what you want me to say about that sorry
and from me to you asking a personal querry... is that chronno trigger as your picture??? because i think it is i had that game for the playstation was i was just a little kid much like my picture lol
hope i helped just ask me more if need be

      Welcome to dreamviews oldschoolRPGs!

If this is the way you sleep its the way you sleep, put simply do you remember dreams when you sleep? If you do then it will be just as easy to lucid dream as lucidity is just awareness. You should probably try during your nap after work since its longer and you'll hit about 3 REM cycles so it'll be good to try then and also on the weekends where you sleep a little more.

There is a thread here somewhere for android alarm clocks, they automatically turn off, this is suppose to help you to DEILD, during this you wake up but do not move at all and keep your eyes closed in hopes of re-entering a dream. I don't know how helpful they actually are, but you should give it a go. I would recommend the DILD, DEILD and MILD methods for now, as they're easier. Other than that, get that dream journal going and I'm sure i will be reading about your first lucid experience on here in no time!

Good luck with your lucid dreaming

Thanks for the advice. I just woke up from sleeping and I had kept a notebook next to my bed covering my clock for my Dream Journal so that when I wake up to check the time like I normally do, I would see the Dream Journal instead and immediately write down what I remember. And wouldn't ya know it, I was able to get 2 dreams recorded! Very exciting for me because I only occasionally remember dreams, and it always seems to be ones I'd rather not remember like going to work haha. I did notice in both my dreams that I was driving a car, so I will start training myself to pinch my nose and blow each time I get into a car. Hopefully this will carry over into my dreams.

Why yes it is. I see you have great taste in games. The picture is some fanart of Crono from Chrono Trigger that I found online. There have been many different versions released. It came out on the SNES, then was later ported to the PSX with Final Fantasy IV on the same disc called Final Fantasy Chronicles. Then eventually to the Nintendo DS and the Wii Virtual Console. If it's been a long time since you played it, might I recommend finding a copy and playing it again? For me, I love revisiting old games that I loved as a child. That's probably why I have such a strong connection with games still because it was my favorite hobby as a kid.

Surprisingly to me, I am able to recall dreams even after my short pre-work nap, as well as my after work sleeping. Though I never made a real effort prior, I believe it shouldn't be a problem recalling them after the success I had last night recording 2 dreams during my 6 hours of sleeping.

Awesome. I will look some up then. I had success using MILD to remind myself to record my dreams after waking up. I don't think I've ever remembered 2 dreams from the same one night ever in my life.

      Thanks for the replys guys!
