Just another new girl saying hi.

Hey guys, I'm Jen. I've never had a lucid dream, though I do meditate and my subconscious tends to scare the living crap out of me more often than not. As far as reality checks, I do them, but it hasn't become a habit yet. I don't bite, and I'm not very shy, so uhm... yeah. Hi.

Hi Jen, welcome to Dreamviews the best forum ever! 8D

It's best not to make your RCs a habit, because if they become too much of a plug-your-nose, try-and-breathe, then move-right-on kind of thing, you'll end up doing them in your dreams without realizing it. It's the same thing as if you watch a movie and you find yourself watching that movie in your dream. Instead, really think during your RCs and think of them as something you "really should do", because you don't know if you're dreaming or not. You should be skeptical and even look around to see if anything looks off; if you don't genuinely feel skeptical, fake it if you have to. I've found that really helps with becoming lucid.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask away and I'd be happy to help!
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Hello and welcome. I never really do reality checks, I just concentrate on thinking positive about lucidity. It really works. When you say you will lucid dream and you continue saying so, you will end up doing so. It's an amazing experience. You'l get it in time.

Hi ForgetTheNight, yes this place is awesome, I always suggest that the best way to set this stuff in your mind is to read and participate in lots of forums and threads on DV. Welcome by the way to the most friendly place on the Internet. P.s. Puffin and Pandabear have the best avatars

You will have to learn to bite. Not hard, not mean, just bite. I think it is like becoming conscious in everyday life, then doing it as well in dreams.

I think that being scared of what your subconscious is showing you is natural but it is better if you can become comfortable with it. Scepticism is important but fear can become a barrier. There is nothing to be scared of within your own mind and it is hard to become lucid if you are not relaxed. My closest experiences to DILD have been inhibited by fear. Some things will terrify me even if I know they are only a dream and I will be aware of the fact that it is a dream but not fully lucid because I am taking it too seriously. Fear needs to be overcome. Well good luck and happy dreaming
